Hes still out there.

Obviously, 2 outfield spots belong to Soriano and Fukudome. As planned, the other 1 will be fought between Pie and Murton, and to a lesser extent, Sam Fuld and Tyler Colvin.

The question is, would Green be willing to take on Cliff Floyds role from last year. Basically keep that 3rd or even 4th outfield spot warm in case Pie and Murton cant cut it, Fuld and Colvin arent ready, and JH doesnt aquire super-duper-ultra-mega-star Marlon Byrd to fill the void.

That way, Soriano could be in LT, while Fukudome switched between Center with Murton/Green in RT or Fuku in RT w/Pie in Center.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I like him as a bat off the bench - you can mark him down for a .350 OBP and probably .450 slugging in Wrigley (Shea is not the greatest park to hit in). He can play both corner OF positions and 1B. He'd be cheap at this point - perhaps a contract like we gave Ward last season?

Green doesn't really provide much unless Fukudome is gonna move to CF, which he isn't. As a 4th OF, backup 1B....he's not a better option than Ward, who is cheaper and used to a bench role.

Am I mistaken or isn't Green from the Chicago area?

Des Plaines according to B-R.

However, just because someone hails from an area doesn't necessarily mean they ever want to go back to that area. A significant part of my family still lives in the surrounding areas of Peoria, but a week long visit at Thanksgiving each year is about all I can take.

I'm sure if your visit was closer to Chicago and not in the winter you'd probably mind it a bit less... :)

doesn't Green have a noodle arm a la Pierre/Jones?

No. He used to have one of the top 3-5 arms in the league. Now, he's probably slightly above league average throwing the ball.

Lofton has an awful arm.

Sorry, random Lofton bashing since everyone else seems to amped up to get him. Kenny can still get on base pretty well and hits for okay pop. But he's not really that capable in the field anymore.
