I wish people still watched the original Star Trek. The relationship between Kirk and Spock helped me explain the Enlightenment and the Romantic period. Sadly the statute of limitations has run out on that reference.

Where do I vote for Battlestar Galactica?

whatever. TNG was in another class entirely. Deep Space Nine was awesome as well. I'll watch any of them, and am particularly happy to catch the older ones. I hope, someday, to own them all.

TNG and Voyager for me. I watched DS9, but not as much as these two. I think DS9 mostly being in the same place didn't work for me.

For those who missed Voyager, here is a quick recap in verse. Can be sung to the Voyager theme music:

Star Trek Voyager

is floating around

in the Delta Quadrant

They wanna go home

But they can't

Oh no

The show can be summed up equally well in prose:

Some guy: What should we do Captain?

Janeway: It's risky, but we've got to do it.

Repeat.

I did watch TNG and DS9 a while ago, and I liked them alright. Voyager was a low point, and I stopped watching after that.

I agree. I thought Voyager---while having the most potential, and could have created new avenues for the Star Trek universe----was the worst show of the Star Trek. To me...they played it TOO SAFE for Voyager.

i'm not a Star Trek fan by a long shot, but what little I saw of Voyager was pretty dumb. Every episode they get in a battle and the ship gets effed up, but by golly, they find somewhere in the endless stretch of the Delta Quadrant to fix that baby up, restock supplies, and press forward.

Also, is space communications so bad that your SOS signal isnt' heard by anyone?

Yeah, the only way Voyager works is if you disregard series continuity completely and hope for good individual episodes. Sometimes they delivered, many times they didn't. It was basically TNG-Lite, while DS9 had actual story arcs and showed signs of foresight and planning.
