The word is (and some Comcast headends have sent out a message) that WCIU HD will be added to Comcast in Chicago area on 1/30.

This is good news for those few Cubs and Bulls home games that are on the U.

Now if they could make sure not to have any Cubs home games on CSN+ !

I assume HD on WCIU will man it will look a little more like a broadcast from the late 90's rather than one from the early 80's

We'll take what we can get! Anything is a improvement.

It'd be nice if they started broadcasting all games (they being WGN and CSN) in HD, rather than just home games, damnit.

WGN (nor any other baseball related network) travels with their own cameras, so they are limited by what the other stadiums have in terms of equipment. until everyone is equipped with the HD cameras, its not worth bringing your HD production truck with you

I think NESN does it for the Red Sox. TBS used to do it for the Braves. I think that's it though.

WCIU HD was added today on Chicago aree Comcast on channel 183.

I think WCIU plans to do road games (few that they have) in HD after WGN and CSN have already announced and commited to doing all games (home and road) in HD this year.

Did WGN and CSNC announce that? I must have missed it.

Has anyone heard anything about WCIU HD on DirecTV? I haven't been able to find any information about it.

The official announcement is still coming, but it has been confirmed according to http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=978015

Great news. Unfortunately, living out of market, I'll only get those HD games that Extra Innings decides to put on, but still if you live in the Chicago area and you're HD, this is massive.

Sweet! I am gonna have to check that out tonight when I get home from work!

Pretty much all Cubs games broadcast in the Chicagoland area will be HD now, except the rare few that will be on CLTV (I think its called CSN+).

Trib[/url]"]At least there's good news on the baseball front. For the first time, every White Sox and Cubs game on Comcast SportsNet, WGN and WCIU will be produced in HD. It is a significant commitment for the channels, but it also speaks to what viewers want in a telecast these days. If you have HD, you want to see the games in HD.

CSN will telecast a record 197 games, including exhibition games. It will carry 101 Sox games, including the March 31 season opener at Cleveland. It will air 80 Cubs games, starting with an April 2 matchup with the Brewers at Wrigley Field.

I just ordered Comcast basic cable with HD. The fine print indicates that I will only get the locals in HD (187-192), but this channel listing doesn't even show WCIU-HD yet. Does anyone know whether it will be available on basic cable?
