he's a 4* hoops recruit, #10 player at his position according to scout

Great so if he ends up at Ohio State Matta will have better guys walking on than most of the Big Ten has recruited.

ESPN's Schlabach releases his 2008 college football top 25:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=3240529

1) Georgia

2) Oklahoma

3) Ohio State

4) USC

5) Mizzou

6) Texas

7) Florida

8) LSU

Illinois at #23 seems a bit low. Do they think Mendenhall was the only reason Illinois was good? He'll be tough to replace, but I think Illinois will be in the thick of the Big Ten race.

It's not underselling them too much I think. They only return 14 starters v. 19 from Penn State and Wisconsin, and they lost their best/most important player on both sides of the ball. That said, it's not like they left them out of the Top 25 and put PSU and Wisconsin in the Top 10, they're grouped close enough that it's a relative tossup who they think finishes behind OSU.

they lost a lot. their best 0-lineman, a very good ot, the offensive player of the year in the bt, a very good middle linebacker (although i don't think we'll miss him as much as some think, miller will be adequate there), antonio steele.

although vonate is back, dere hicks and marcus thomas, patrick nixon to safety and donsay hardeman to olb with martez wilson, who everyone will get to see this season.

josh brent is a year older, and d'angelo mccray is a monster. will davis is back, liuget will instantly help this team up front on d as well, pilcher's back. the d will be fine.

on offense, i'm most excited about juice. he's going to follow rashard as offensive poy in the BT, you heard it here first, folks.

jason ford will start and will be fine. the loss of weil hurts, which is why i think that mikel leshoure should move to fullback, although he's not exactly the bruising blocker that weil was, which sucks.

as far as receiver goes, the illini are ridiculously deep, so deep that gamble's moving to safety, most likely. benn, cumberland, james, scott, jenkins, hudson, tavon wilson, ellington, sanni--any of whom could be moved to defense, which is where sanni or ellington will end up, but not both.

pocic could start at right tackle instantly, and remember the name: ryan sedlacek, he's my sleeper.

that said, i think 23 is a fair ranking.

Rodriguez is already making changes at UM for 2008.

$600,000 in new weight room equipment. The old stuff was auctioned off.

A spring game instead of just some stupid practice. Site wont be at the Big House but at least they're playing a game. Maybe even godforbid televised.

A 3 day coaching clinic in the spring for coaches and gasp, a first ever 2 day passing camp.

RR does call in interviews on sports radio shows. Carr was worse than Bill Belichek when it comes to information.

Welcome to the 21st Century Michigan Football.

But Carr's halftime sideline reports were priceless. You knew the reporter knew she/he was screwed from the begining.

Well, I'm drunk, so I just want to mention once again that while kU is happy playing for a meaningless BCS game that the entire country knows they didn't deserve, I'll be content with MU playing for a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the National Championship. I find it hilarious that in the greatest season in kU's history, they finished 3rd in the Big 12, lost to their biggest rival in the biggest game in the school's history, backed their way into a BCS Bowl game, and, even though they won their "bcs" bowl game, they finished three spots behind a team that didn't go to a BCS game. So, basically in summary: F YOU kansas.

Mizzou: #4

oh, and just for fun, MU 36 ku 28

Missouri has never won anything significant in major college sports. I'd stick around to discuss it further, but I'm going to go wrap myself in a tapestry of Final Four and National Championship banners while feasting on delicious Florida oranges.

LOL my mistake I thought this was a college football thread, not a college basketball thread. The funny thing is for as much crap as kU fans spout about other sports, MU actually dominates the school to the west in sports. If we need to, we could go sport after sport right now:

Football: MU #4

Cross Country: Both unranked

Golf: Both unranked

Swimming and Diving: I have no clue how to tell who's winning

Tennis: Both unranked

Track: kansas 23rd

Basketball kU: #4

Wrestling: MU #13

Baseball: MU preseason: #6

Women's:

Basketball: Both teams suck

Cross Country: Who knows

Golf: MU 33rd

Gymnastics MU 13th

Soccer: MU 23rd

Softball: MU 29th

Swimming and Diving:No clue

Tennis: Both teams suck

Track ku 10th

Volleyball: MU NCAA tournament appreance

Yep, ku is definitely the superior athletic department

NOT!

You've definitely got us beat on the women's sports front. Color me depressed. I might have to pop in my BCS FedEx Orange Bowl DVD to cheer myself up. Did they make a Cotton Bowl DVD, or was that daybreak kickoff too early to roust any cameramen?

LOL once again I'm glad that ku fans have such high hopes that the Orange Bowl=the highest feeling they'll ever have.

Once again, I'd much rather play for a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the National Championship than backing into the Orange Bowl. But hey, I guess some schools, such as kansas, don't care for championships, as long as they get into a bowl game contreversially.

oh and here's another video for everyone's entertainment:

I'm just glad ku fans can admit they'd rather not play for Big 12 Championships and a shot at the National Championship. I mean crap, I guess they already know Bill Self will help them flake out in the Elite Eight that at least they got voted into a bowl game not only did they not deserve, but in the long run, the game was meaningless. Hey, at least in our dream season we didn't play for a conference or national title though!
