Vandy just dropped the series to Alabama. The final game of the series went to the Tide 10-3. Very disappoint series for Vandy, as they lost a series to an incredibly young, and not-so-talented Crimson Tide team.

Aaron Crow is so sick. 8 IP, 0 runs, 9k/4bb last night in a 1-0 win against Texas Tech. That's 33 2/3 straight scoreless for Crow. His line on the year is:

6-0, 0.84 ERA, 60k/11bb, 4 ER on the season. Sure wish the Cubs had a higher pick.

Here's a really in depth breakdown of Crow's mechanics. They liken him to AJ Burnett or JJ Putz, but also think he's a Tommy John candidate like Burnett.

They didn't necessarily say that he is a TJ candidate, this is what they said:

So, unless teams are convinced (and it sure sounds like they aren’t, neither am I) that he’s going to have chronic elbow problems or multiple TJ surgeries, it’ll be pretty hard to put another pitcher ahead of him in this draft,

And Pedro Alvarez is back from injury.

*yawn* Another CG Shutout for Crow, with 7 ks and 0 BB. It's almost getting boring (no it isn't).

He's now up to 42 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

7 starts, 7-0, 0.69 ERA, 67k/11bb, 4 ER in 52 IP on the season.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say Crow has jumped passed Matusz as top collegiate pitcher in the draft.

That bum.Doesn't Crow know that if he wants to be the #1 pick, he CANNOT give up homeruns when the wind is blowing out. Now's he's lucky to be a Top 25 Rd pick, after tonight's performance. That bum.............

Mizzou ended up winning 31-12. Jacob Priday went 5-5 with 4 homers, 9RBI, and 6 runs. For Texas, Kyle Russell was 2-3 with 2HR, 4 RBI, and 3 runs. No Texas pitcher lasted longer than 2 innings tonight.

holy crap!

cubs need to start spreading rumors about crow that he can't keep the ball in the yard, and maybe throw something in the rumors about him having trouble keeping his pitches down because of a shoulder injury he's hiding.

i'll start sitting behind the scouts at games and saying things like "man i dunno why he's trying to pitch through the pain. he should just have TJS now so he can rehab for the big leagues. he's gonna blow his arm out in his first year of minor league ball."

Make sure to not say it behind the Cubs scouts.

Actually, maybe saying that in front of them will help the Cubs take him if he falls...

Granted it was against Utah but SDSU righty Stephen Strasburg struck out 23 on Friday. He's got a good chance to go #1 next season, I believe.

Is Crow going to pitch in the OU series? I might drive over there and see it.

Don't see why he wouldn't, he's the Friday starter. He got touched up by Texas this weekend: 5 IP, 9 ER, 9 H, 4/2 K/BB. Not sure how much to read into it since there was apparently a teacup strike zone and a stiff wind blowing out. Mizzou eventually won the game 31-12. That's not a typo.

That probably won't be pretty for the Jayhawks.

Mizzou has a good program, is KU any good?

Kansas has provided the Cubs with this AAA stud. What has Mizzou ever done for the Cubs?

No, not really. I think they're about 5 games over .500 overall and well below .500 in conference.

ETA: 25-18, 5-10. Mizzou will put us in a clown suit. For the record, we played UI (and lost) this year, too.

I don't think we have been any good lately, but I do know we have had a couple of guys drafted. Including the guy we got in the Neifi Perez trade to Detroit. So right away Chris Robinson is our best player, by ridding us of Neifi.
