Josh H. had a pretty good night last night - Hamilton hammers win home for Texas Rangers

Even before he drove the first pitch he saw from Mariners reliever J.J. Putz into the right field seats with one out and Ian Kinsler on first in the ninth inning, he first kept the Rangers in the game with two running catches and then helped give the club the lead by beating out a rally-starting infield hit.

I'm just hoping he stays healthy. I got great value on him in my fantasy draft (18th Round). Apparently no one else in my league got the memo that he is good at baseball.

Why the heck did you pass on him in the 17th round?

Yeah I took him in the 10th round of mine, maybe a reach. But it's a 10 team league that starts 14 position players. I've been blown away since the first game I saw him, add that to the fact he's hitting in that sandbox and it's a no-brainer imo.

11th for me. Better than guys like bonderman, ocab, griffey etc that went just after him.

Volquez's final line for the day:

5 1/3, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 8 K

Would have liked to seen him go 6, but I'm going to complain about it. Really good first outing.

Very good outing. I've got to admit i'm a little scared in the future with Cueto, Volquez, Gallardo, and Parra looking like they could all be very good pitchers.

I may be a little premature here, but I'm worried about the Reds this season. I think they have a much more well rounded team than in seasons past. I know their pitchers are still raw, but I think the talent is there. All it takes is a few early bloomers and this could be a scary team. This was certainly a quality outing for Volquez, and against the Phillies no less.

That said, I continue to brood on this, why in the hell did we help the Reds get Hamilton? From day one I have questioned the prudence of this move. Were we that hard up for 50k? Why help a division team improve, even if it appears to be a million to one, low risk, high reward transaction? The Reds come to us because they see Hamilton taken before their rule 5 pick, we take him and send him to the Reds, he realizes some potential and then they turn him into Volquez. I know Volquez still has a lot to prove, but he obviously has talent. This entire situation irks me to no end.

The Reds will probably be in the division race. Probably trailing safely behind us and Milwaukee, but close enough to warrant Dusty to destroy those young pitchers they have. I'm not too worried because odds are that great young pitching will be on the DL by the ASB next season.
