The investigation seems to focus heavily on the California teams and the northeastern teams, mainly due to their locality to the major steroid investigations so far. I have a fealing if the invesitgations focused more on the rest of the country, Sammy might not look so clean.

I don't understand where the perception comes from that Sammy is stupid. He was a very savvy self-promoter, and he was great at giving the press what they wanted. Eventually his ego screwed that up, but he played the press like a fiddle in 98 and for a few years after that.

It's more that these guys are pro athletes and likely not master, or even capable, criminals, and based on what this report is showing as to how a lot of these guys got their supplies, it surprises me that any of them would be able to do it seemingly as airtight as Sammy has done, if he was using. If he was, wouldn't he need to keep using whatever throughout the season at various points? I guess maybe he could just stock up in the DR if that was doable and then have enough for the season.

Most people (not necessarily on NSBB but in general) also thought Jose Canseco was crazy back when he released his book and people thought he was only in it for the money and he craved attention. But then the people he named kept turning up in steroid investigations and all of a sudden Jose didn't look so stupid. Nobody ever though Rafael Palmeiro juiced either until he tested positive.

 

Just because Sammy wasn't named in the Mitchell investigation doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean he did juice and it doesn't mean he didn't juice. Personally, I think it's likely he did but until somebody pins it to him like the Mitchell investigation has done with a number of other players, steroids can't be held against him.

I honestly thought he would be named. when I say : "interesting if Sammy never truly used?" I really mean how surprising it really would be to me. But then I realize that in this country, you are innocent until proven guilty. as far as sammy goes, I have to think right now he is innocent, and not give in to all the court of public opinon BS.

I know this isn't a court of law or anything, but should he be presumed innocent as far as Steroid/HGH use goes until there's at least a shred of evidence otherwise? I'm not making excuses for Sammy...I surely don't have the same feelings about him as I one did, but corked bat aside (which there's no excuse for), for folks to claim he's innocent of steroid use...I don't think that's such a crazy position to hold given what has come out. I'm not sure I believe it...but I don't begrudge those that do.
