florida is not very good

youre right. theyre only a top 20 team (even if they lose) and theyre going to open up next season as the number 1 team in the country

No chance.

Florida will be a top 5 team at the very least to start the 2008 season. I wouldn't be surprised if they're ranked number 1.

Top 5, sure. #1? No chance. A 4 loss team that finshes 15 or lower will NOT begin 2008 ranked #1. I'd guess they start at #3.

Who do you have ahead of them then?

It's unfortunate we couldn't see that offense from Michigan all season long.

Michigan actually faced some real defenses this year.

They faced a couple good defense but not that many.

One defensive player coming back is not going to make the difference for Ohio State in their ranking.

That was the most satisfying win since beating Washington State in the '98 Rose Bowl. Winning Carr's last game, against Tebow and Florida.. such a great feeling. Loved seeing what this offense will look like next year.

Now go Illini! Back to back upsets would be fantastic for the Big Ten.

Right now I would probably consider OU the preseason #1 team. And I really hate saying that.

Agreed, Oklahoma seems like the no-doubter. Florida should be top-5.

USC is not exactly going to be sucking it up next season either. They only have about 12 5-Star QB's to choose from. Texas will be much improved with their very young defense having a year of experience, and does Mizzou really lose anyone. I can't see any real scenario with Chase Daniel's leaving.

USC will lose some big names on defense (assuming Malauga turns pro) but their offensive skill players are young so Sanchez/Corp/Mustain should really enjoy some nice weapons. I'd go Oklahoma-USC-Ohio State-Florida top 4 (can't think of a 5...Texas?).

What an amazing performance by Tony Temple today. Hopefully the NCAA will do the right thing and give him one more year of eligibility.

I know that I started the Fire Lloyd Carr thread back in Sept after the "Team That Must Not Be Named" loss, but I got chocked up watching the players carry him on their shoulders today. He's a good and decent guy who just can't coach anymore. I am glad they played so well for him; just wish they wouldn't have waited until now.

Mizzou will be top 5 - 7, IMO. If Daniels leaves he's a moran.

EDIT: Supposedly Notre Dame's newcomers will be top-notch. Now they just need a coach. :P

I'd say there's maybe 1% chance Daniel leaves. If he left he would definitely be a moran.

Maybe they can help lead ND to 5 wins next season :-)

I would love to somehow see Texas Tech land Julio Jones since Rivals still has them listed with no solid verbals. Him along side Michael Crabtree in that Tech offense would be one of the most fun in the nation to watch for the next couple of years. I'm not a big Tech fan, but considering what they do without the major recruits of the other schools. Landing someone like him would be big for them. If he wants the ball he will get the ball at Tech.

Since ND was brought up, it's worth noting that ND beat all 2 of the non-bowl teams on this year's schedule. The way next year's schedule stacks up, if they continued to beat all the non-bowl teams and only the non-bowl teams, they'd finish 7-5. The 08 schedule is kind of ridiculous in its easiness, and hopefully that combined with all the freshmen gaining experience this year (ND was the first team in history to get more yards passing, receiving and rushing from the freshman class than any other class) will lead to a winning record. If not, CW might be gone.

I wish somebody would have asked Chad Henne or Mike Hart how it feels to finally win a big game in their four years. 0-4 vs. OSU and 0-3 in Bowl games is pretty pathetic. Nice to see them finally come through.

So thats what happens when UM opens up the offense and throws the ball downfield and not just outs, fades and bombs. They even used 3 wide receivers to balance out the passing game instead of just one.

Classic Lloyd on the 3 runs at the end of the game to try and milk the clock instead of going for a TD and icing the game when the offense was rolling all game. Even forcing Florida to use the timeouts yielded 2+ minutes left for a dangerous offense. :x

Percy Harvin is a helluva player and a crazy good verstale weapon, too bad he doenst possess Big Ten speed like Morgan Trent otherwise he would of taken that one to the house. 8-) That was literally the first time in three years ive seen Trent use his track speed on the field.

You might see USC ahead of them, maybe OU. They're the odds on favorite. They return everybody and have a heisman. Voters go gaga over that sort. Theyll be preseason #1 in a lot of polls. Maybe not the AP, but in a lot.

OU has 8 seniors on their defensive two deep. Florida has 8 seniors period. The youth on this team's unbelievable the have less juniors than seniors. With the exception of Harvey and Caldwell every contributor will return. Give their defense a year of development and they'll be back to being dominant. The offense returns every but Caldwell, who they can replace. Their offense will actually have a running back next year (and a good one). They'll have the top offense in the country (again).

Florida's depth chart:

Starter (Backup)

DE JR (FR)

DT FR (FR)

DT SR (FR)

DE SO (FR)

LB FR (FR)

LB SO (FR)

LB SO (FR)

CB FR (SO)

CB SO (FR)

FS FR (SR)

SS FR (SR)

It's no wonder they struggled against the pass this year.

They have three defensive backs that are upperclassman. Three. Two freshman beat out two of them out. They have no upperclassman linebackers. They had a very seasoned defensive line by the teams standards with four upperclassman...out of 17. It's not as if they don't have the talent. All of the freshman listed are four or five star recruits and theyre are two other freshman not listed who were five star recruits on the defensive side who redshirted. Next year the defense is going to be quite fun to watch. Florida may finish ranked around 18-20 this year, but if the voters are rational enough to realize that they return everybody and some there's no reason not to rank them #1.
