What times does today's announcement that Bedard won't be traded until tomorrow at the earliest occur?

That happened yesterday between Peace21 and BigBird.

With everything that has gone on with this trade and the fact that it has taken this long anybody wanna bet that something "pops up" with a players physical and the trade is called off....... ;)

This offseason has been ridiculously strange; it wouldn't surprise me at all.

10:56am apparently:

According to the Baltimore Sun, as of late Wednesday afternoon Erik Bedard had yet to leave his home in Ontario in order to undergo a pre-trade physical in Seattle.

The newspaper now suggests that an official trade announcement may not come until Friday, but the timetable could change quickly once Bedard actually boards a flight.

Seriously, someone has to be sitting outside his house watching to see when he comes out.

I believe Peace (I believe his source is or has ties to Bedard's agent) from OH reported sometime last night that Bedard would be on his way to Seattle this morning. I guess we'll see.

I can't believe there isn't a market for Marquis when teams are looking at Colon, Lohse, and Tracshel.

Yeah but teams are looking at them and not signed them yet and they wouldn't offer any of them a two year 7 mil contract which is what Marquis still has left.

Cubs can always eat a couple of million.

Do we need a second baseman. No. Giving up either Gallagher or Pie is bordering on insanity. Brian Roberts is not Ryne Sandberg. Now if he played SS maybe.

Navan's Erik Bedard could be a Seattle Mariner as early as today.

While Bedard, 28, couldn't be reached for comment, a source told Sun Media that the Baltimore Orioles pitcher was leaving Ottawa for Seattle this morning to take a physical, a sign that the much-talked-about deal between the Mariners and Orioles could finally be completed.

it doesn't seem to be bothering some folks around here, but i really feel that giving up cedeno could be a big big mistake...we don't have anyone to plug into short if theriot is injured...

unless there is someone i do not know about

IIRC, Hendry mentioned, on CTL, that he wanted another utility player. Perhaps, that player will be the backup.

True, but even after 172 pages we still don't have a real clue what the deal would be.

At the time, I thought he was talking about Marlon Byrd because I don't think he specified in/outfield. Maybe it was someone else? Hmmm, now that I think about it further, I remember saying to myself 'what about Ronny?' Whatever, well find out soon enough with ST starting next week.

He also went on to say whomever, between Pie and Fuld, didn't win the CF job would be sent back to AAA because there wouldn't be room for both.

So you wouldn't trade Sean Gallagher straight up for Roberts?

I would

Erik Bedard is traveling to Seattle today for his physical, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.

The trade should finally go down Friday, assuming Bedard passes the physical. There's a slight chance it could be announced later today.

I bet his pilot gets lost and he ends up in Baghdad so the trade is still on hold

I probably would if we needed a 2nd baseman. Just trading him for the heck of it not so much. The trade would make more sense if Derosa could play some CF and be the righthanded half to go with Pie.

PS: Having Marquis and Lieber as 2/5ths of the starting rotation is worrisome too. We may need Gallagher there later on.

What's great about this thread is if you take any sizeable range of pages, you get the entire content of the thread in condensed form. So if you want to know what's going on, just read pages 10-40 or 110-140. Little difference.
