All of those guys will be rule V eligible, so ALL of them may not be back.

Remember that they were all minor league free agents, so, if any team wanted any of them bad enough to select him in the Rule 5 draft, they could have just signed him as a free agent and not had to keep him on their 25-man roster all year.

True, but there is more to the Rule V than just the major league portion. I imagine some of these guys would still be eligible to be drafted during the minor league portions.

Iowa should have enough room on its roster to protect them from that.

Not quite sure the point of Koyie Hill coming back. With Soto the obvious starter, and Blanco making some ridiculous amount of money for a back up catcher whose lucky to hit above .200, hes virtually untradeable. At least of Koyie were to try to sign with a lesser team, hed have a chance of making the bigs as a backup.

I think Hill is actually in his best situation. He will be the first guy from the minor leagues called up if there is an injury, and Blanco is 38 and had a major injury last year. I doubt he'd get that much chance to be a backup anywhere else right now.

Henry Blanco's health situation isn't all that great. Koyie Hill is likely a #3 catcher (top minor league catcher, #1 guy called up in case of injury) wherever he goes so it makes sense to return to a team he has establishes ties with and has already been called up.

Ugh I was hoping Walrond would leave.

Why? I don't think it matters much. The prospect pitchers will get their chances but invariably some will be shuffled up from Iowa to the pen and others will get hurt so it's a good idea to have a AAA veteran guy who can start all season long.

Agreed. It helps to have some veteran roster-filler to fill in here and there. It's not like he'd be blocking a prospect.
