The Yankees supposedly are going to go after Cabrera aggressively.

Tabata and Hughes would be a start...yeah, no way the Cubs can get in on this.

There is something seriously wrong with the FA system if Barrett is considered a Type A.

I know they take into account more than just last season..but wow.

Here is what the article says about him...

The mid-revenue Padres strongly expect the Marlins to shop and trade third baseman Miguel Cabrera within five weeks.

It says that the Padres EXPECT him to be available, not that he is available. Also, what little stock I put into it completely disappeared when it went on to say this...

The Padres won't be surprised if Rodriguez, a Miami native, signs with the Marlins in return for an ownership stake linked to keeping the franchise in South Florida.

Yeah, ARod is going to sign with the Marlins. Wasn't their entire payroll two years ago about half of what he's asking for? They paid 25 players a total of 14M... they're not going to pay one player 30M two years later.

If and when Miguel Cabrera is officially on the market, you'll hear/read about it somewhere other than some San Diego newspaper first.

Actually, there've been rumblings about this for a week now and the Union-Trib isnt' the first place I've read about it. I've read that the Yankees will go aggressively after him to replace ARod.

It goes w/ production by position too.

I'm happy with Kyler Burke though.

The article lost all credibility once talking about Arod.

It's still a stupid system. Rotoworld is going off on it as well, Carlos Silva doesn't qualify at all, but Troy Percival, who only threw about 40 innigs does.

Also, Mike Lowell (somewhat understandable) and Robinson Cano ranked higer than A-Rod.

Oh, yeah there has been talk about him being moved since well before this week. I was just saying that the article doesn't mean it's definitive, as the thread title suggests.

Well, the public doesn't always know that a player is available, that's the problem.

Pie, Marmol, Hill and whoever else they want.

Only problem is that he needs to go on Celebrity Fit Club or something and stop being such a fatass if he's to play the OF.

He's two years away from making Manny look skinny.

Also goes to show you how amazing his 2006 was.

The Yankees keep shopping their lesser prospects, I'll be surprised if someone goes for those guys. As for the upper tier - Tabata falls into the class of prospects I'm not crazy about, the super young guys who hold their own at their levels, but you can't tell a ton from that. Not as high on Elvus Andrus for that reason.

How do the Yankees get Miguel Cabrera without giving up Philip Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, and Austin Jackson? Crazy thing is, that wouldn't hurt them as much as people pretend.

But didn't you just call Gorkys/Jair "a bundle"? Doesn't Hernandez fall into the Tabata/Andrus class?

In terms of perceived value, Tabata and Andrus are "bundles."

Compare Asdrubal Cabrera's career to Tabata's up to Advanced A.

Andrus's career OPS is .697, he's very young but it seems like you should do more than just be young and do okay to be considering a smoking hot prospect.

If he hits like Manny (who has a career 1.100 OPS) he can eat whatever and however much he likes. He reminds quite a bit of Manny, and I freakin love Manny.

I don't hold any hope that the Cubs could get Cabrera, but if Miggy is available, I'd hope the Cubs make every attempt to get him.

Cabrera in the middle of the line-up surrounded by Lee, Ramirez, and Soriano would be phenomenal.
