When Michigan plays at Illinois and has 1 penatly for 5 yards and Illinois has 10 for well over 100 and the game is a one score game up until the last series, the officials had a hand in deciding that game. Right or wrong.

So you must by the Al Davis conspiracy theory that the NFL hates the Raiders then, right? Because they're generally the most penalized team in the NFL so it must be the refs. Oh, and they were one of the most penalized teams even when they were one of the best teams in the league also.

Of course, holding on MSU, hey Officials why don't you look at those guys in Maize and Blue - the best holders in the nation.

If you really think this is why Michigan is kicking our butts, please take a seat in the losers section.

Not at all however, for the last two weeks I've watched Michigan' opposition get called for holding while they continue to drag defenders to the ground without a call.

Its a losers mentality. Michigan is beating us for reasons like, our stupid penalities, Hoyer not being very good, our lack of running game. If you are waiting for the refs win the game for us, please become a Penn St fan.

waiting for an evenly officiated game =/= waiting for officials to win you a game

OR MAKING EXCUSSES FOR LOSING

dude there's a reason that michigan state fans are wondering about the officiating in this game, and illinois fans a couple of weeks ago, and penn state fans, and northwestern fans...

I am a Michigan St fan and I am not wondering about the officiating. I am wondering why people cry about it all the time. Losers cry about officiating. Sorry thats the way I see it and it will not change. Michigan St is not losing this week because of the REFs. Its because of our mistakes. We are commiting the penalties that are getting called. Our player let Hart fake him out of his pants on one play and didnt bring him down on another. Our QB underthrew a wide open TD. We fix that stuff we are winning. NOT CRYING ABOUT OFFICIATING.

I am sorry but the truth is officials are human and they make mistakes that GO BOTH WAYS. If you are looking for the officials as the reason your team losses, well that explains why your team losses.

Wrong. Illinois penalties were late hits, face masks, offsides, roughing the punter. Did Michigan do any of these and not get called.

they pentalty for roughing the kicker on Illinois was a joke. It should have been a five yarder, but it was called a 15 yarder with an automatic first down that set up a touchdown. Michigan gets the benefit of the doubt way too often.

Because they get tired of losing to Michigan year in and year out so they come up with crazy theories about how the referees are biased for Michigan and that allows the fans of the other teams to sleep at night without thinking their team sucks. Rather than "You know, maybe our team just isn't that good." it's "We're better than Michigan but they just get all the calls and the referees favor them."

Bingo. This is why everyone used to think the Cowboys got all the calls. It it why everyone thinks the Yankees get all the calls. Sure they do have calls go in their favor. These are the ones thats fans of other teams cry about all day. However no one seems to cry about any calls that go against Michigan, Cowboys or the Yankees.

ah good to see that our california friend follows the big ten closely and sees most of the conferences games.

Bitching and moaning about penalties is a cop out. There are instances for both teams in which penalties could be called but don't. It's just convenient that almost every fan of another Big 10 team ONLY remembers the penalties that went against their team and don't remember a single instance in which a penalty called hurt Michigan. And they have happened. I guarantee it and don't need to have watched every Big 10 game to know it.

You can pull out instances in any game that a call goes one way or another. Are you saying that Penn St has never gotten a call in a game against Michigan. Or none that you remember.

I know you watch college basketball, would you say Duke gets a pretty good advantage from the referees?

Dont run into him and you dont have to worry about it. Did you see Michigan running into the Illinois punter?

No more or less than any other team. People just remember the calls that favor Duke because they hate Duke.

Explain to me how a jump shooting team shoots more free throws than anyone else. Specifically one that shoots mainly threes.

If you want bad officiating, try playing Duke in football sometime.

Someone explain to me why Notre Dame would go for it on 4th and 14 with 7 minutes left at their own 30. It's amazing it worked.

please, jog my memory. I can give a dozen examples of bad calls that have gone against penn state the past five years of the series; usually when i ask for bad calls against michigan i don't get any examples

Duke is one of the better teams in the nation and generally has a lot of good players. They play a lot of teams, especially out of conference, that aren't very good. Those teams generally don't have very good players. Good players are going to draw fouls against not very good players because those other players, you know, aren't very good.

Notre Dame's defense hasn't stopped Navy all day long. They had to go for it otherwise Navy would run the clock out.

I was surprised Weis actually did it, but I think it was the right move even when it was called.

Holding against Michigan!!!!!!!!! You guys must of exposed the conspiracy and now its going to be called straight

Almost as crazy as those fans who thought NBA games weren't on the level. Oh wait.

Wasn't that Notre Dame's first completion all half? I'd say the odds were better that they'd cost themselves the game with over 5 minutes to go thanks to the great field position they'd give up than to do what they did.

Right, so how come they still shoot more free throws when they play the just as talented teams in the ACC? Even though they shoot a majority of their shots from behind the three point line and play the most in your face defense of any team in that conference?

Funny how every week some crappy team plays their best half or best game of the year against UCLA.

Arizona is up 27-14 on UCLA and should be up more. UCLA's defense has been on the field way too much and is going to get worn out in the second half between being tired and the Tucson heat. And this is the most winnable game remaining on the UCLA schedule. Whoops.

not really, i'm convinced that the most winnable games for ucla are the ones against good teams. Oregon or USC? sure we can beat them. Utah without their quarterback and running back? An awful wazzu team? let's get blown out!

You make a good point. Of course, UCLA played down to Utah and WSU on the road and upset Cal in Pasadena. Maybe they do have a chance against ASU and Oregon.
