Adam Dunn, Jeff Keppinger

for

Cedeno, Gallagher, Dempster/Jones (depending on who would be more attractive to Krivsky)

Dusty would like to get Jacque and would probably block Hamilton/Bruce with him. It would suck to get rid of Gallagher but well worth it for a few years of Dunn. Have to think Cedeno's value is as high as it will ever be right now, because once he starts getting significant playing time, the rest of the league will find out what we already know :D

It would be great to get rid of both Dempster and Jones, but I don't see it happening this year.

If you were the GM of the Reds, would you do this?

Probably not. Replace Cedeno with Pie, and I might. I really think that unloading Dunn's contract is really important here, so I intentionally lowballed it. Would you put Marshall ahead of Gallagher in terms of value? I'm not sure I would.

Only if you added in a couple middle relievers to deal.

Pie for Dunn? That's not healthy.

I didn't propose Pie. His name came up when I was asked what I would do in Krivsky's situation. I wouldn't do my proposed trade because I know Cedeno is not a centerpiece of any trade.

I'm just seeing what Krivsky might take for a chance to unload Dunn's contract and get Hamilton and Bruce some playing time.

And, I'll concede that adding Keppinger to the deal is probably a tad optimistic :)

Why would the Reds want to unload Dunn's contract? If they wanted a dump, they could have declined his option.

They may trade Dunn, though they can't without his consent until June 15, but it will be because they believe they are getting value for him.

My guess is that he'll be moved near the deadline next season if they don't work out an extension.

So they can actually get something for him rather than letting him walk?

Oh, I agree that could be the case, but in that scenario they aren't going to trade him unless they get a package that they like.

Cedeno, Gallagher, Dempster/Jones as proposed in the initial post for Dunn and Keppinger isn't it.

If they trade Dunn prior to the deadline, it's going to take a player they like. I'd think Pie could be that player. Gallagher is a start, but my guess is that to get Dunn alone it would take one of Pie or Marmol in addition to Gallagher or Marshall.

I've never been a fan of Dunn's, but if the Reds would accept this deal, I would jump on it.

Do you really think the Reds couldn't get a better offer than that?

While Veteran Boy is putting his stamp on the Reds, Hendry should call and see what the Reds would need to trade Jay Bruce.

I'm not sure if I would trade Keppinger alone for that package. Ok, I am joking just alittle.

That isn't anywhere close to getting it "Dunn" though.
