Would you do it? Chris DeLuca thinks so.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/600127,CST-SPT-deluca12.article

If Lou wanted out, the Cubs would have to strongly consider it. W/ 2 years left on his contract - and depending how bad Steinbrenner wants Lou, we'd be able to get at least one major leaguer (Cano, Cabera) and 2 good, young prospects.

Or is this just BS. Since it happended before, it could happen again.

Lou for ARod straight up.

If Lou went to NY, I couldn't see ARod leaving. The whole speculation of ARod to the Cubs is based on his relationship with Lou.

first off, Dusty is going to the Reds (i know it was a joke, but still...)

secondly, a talking head on ESPN Radio thought the best fit for the Yankees would be..........Bob Brenely. Discuss

I don't think there's any truth to this rumor, but if there was, I'd hope the Cubs would see how good a deal they could get as opposed to just flat out saying "no."

Depending on what the Yankees offered, I'd consider it. My biggest fear is that we'd replace Lou with Girardi.

see ya, Lou. my biggest HOPE is that Piniella is replaced by Girardi...

Why? So, that we can return to being an also-ran in the NL Central?

return? laughable. you must have missed that whole 'playoff run' this year. 'also-ran' is a complimentary term when used here.

obviously you like the managing and performance of this team as it stands. sorry, i simply do not.

Girardi is one of the sharpest baseball minds in the game, and a true leader who bleeds Blue.

see Marlins. Florida. 2006...

So, you give Lou no credit for getting us to the playoffs, but yet put full blame on him because Ramirez/Lee/Soriano magically forgot how to hit? Right, that makes sense.

And yes, return makes perfect sense. Last year we were last place, this year we were in first. Thus, return.

And what the hell does "see Marlins. Florida. 2006.." mean

What am I supposed to see? A sub-.500 team who finished in 4th place?

Marlins. Florida. 2006

78-84, 4th place. (2 games below Pythag)

Am I to be impressed by that?

Are am I to be impressed by Girardi's baseball philosophy which is rooted in conventional wisdom?

Sure, he was a Cub. That means nothing to me. He's overhyped and I hope he never becomes manager of this team or else we'll be mired in mediocrity.

It says something when someone gets fired one year after being hired. Everyone wants to take Joe's side here, but I think there may be something to the Marlins' side as well. The Cubs would do well to steer clear of Girardi.

While I like Girardi, I'm not sure he would've guided us to the win the division this year.

what happened to the Banedon post? couldn't respond, and logged back in. regardless, Clint Hurdle? how does Clint Hurdle equate to a Joe Girardi point?

to the Goat's post:

when did i give credit, lay blame for anyone for this past season? simply put, i did not. please don't put words in my mouth. in case you missed it, here's my point:

this team is fundamentally flawed from the top down.

management refuses to become accountable for abhorent personell decisions.

Piniella refuses to be accountable for a year in which it took him 3 months of the regular season to evaluate talent.

in-game management by Piniella was nothing short of abysmal this season. see Murton and Soto. Quady should be summarily dismissed. I was at the game last Saturday, and have witnessed his ineptitude all year.

players are more to blame for non-production, but contracts negate quick solutions.

you question the 2006 Marlins reference? look again at what Girardi accomplished with a cast of stand-ins that year. yes, they finished fourth, but that team was alive until the last week of the season.

i want Hendry gone.

i want Piniella gone.

i want Rothschild gone.

i want Kendall gone.

any other questions?

Merely pointing out that a successful team doesn't mean the manager was great. I didn't make my point very well, and didn't have the energy to repost in a way that made sense, so I deleted the post. :P

Thought I got it before it was seen.
