Other than ARod, Andruw and Torii, are there any "difference-making" free agents? It seems like a weak class. I do like Aaron Rowand.

I believe you are correct, am I correct to assume you can start trading after the last out of the deciding WS game?

I believe you can trade at any time, just as you can sign any players who are free agents already(released/indy leagues) at any time. Selig encourages teams to wait until after the postseason to make moves so as to not distract from the playoffs. Unless you want to leak something about steroids, then go ahead and do that during what should be baseball's peak.

I took a look at the code this evening and it wouldn't be really hard to update.

 

The key thing is that I can't really move forward on this until there's a definitive FA list available. Then the problem will be whether I have time to update the program between when the list becomes available and when people start signing.

 

The real solution is to:

 

1) take the FA names out of the php code

2) create database tables for the names

3) create screens to maintain those tables

4) find backup for me to populate the tables in case I'm not available when the lists come out

5) protect this access so people can't mess with it

6) make the public pages available

 

 

But that's a lot more work!

Yeah, but a couple hours of programming time for me can save her (or another) many, many hours of collecting entries, tabulating results periodically, etc.
