i'm not sure if this my first post or not...but it won't be my last. I am a loooooooooooooooooong time lurker, and why i start the day AFTER the cubs season ends, i'm not sure.

But i'll be a regular poster from here on out. (there's your warning....)

The one thing I LOVED about Michael Barrett was that he cared. He felt it was a privledge to play for the Cubs and wear that uniform. I respect that.

I feel the same way about Mark DeRosa. Its evident he really cares.

While i am deeply distraught that we lost and now are 100 years going, I'm glad that there are guys on that roster that just don't go through the motions and pick up a check and go. DeRosa really cares. That means something to me.

He's been man enough to do all the interviews and now to post his blogs for everyone to see and to rip apart.

Great site guys....i look forward to be a bigger part of it from here on out.

John

Welcome to the boards. Most of us don't bite.

Thanks PriorPower,

I think i'll fit in quite well here.....I got a pretty thick skin....hench a die hard cub fan.

But I got my shots just in case. :D

Welcome to the site. The Cubs have a few players that can really be described by the word "class". DeRosa fits in with DLee and Kerry Wood when it comes to class.

I guess my question would be how do you know when a player "cares"? You have to write a blog to care? Does ARam not care even though he hit a walk off homer against the Brewers to help ignite the Cubs to the division title? Does Jacque Jones not care because he didn't write a blog or publicly apologize even though no matter how the crowd booed him he still kept crashing into the ivy? How does one judge when a player cares? Can anyone right now name one Cub who doesn't care and how would you prove it?

Welcome to the site Rook. Man I thought I was just a "lurker" with my measly 100+ posts, but hell you been lurking for almost two years. As I'm sure you already know, this is the BEST website there is for Cubs talk and info. I really have learned more than I ever thought imaginable since I joined NSBB.

Its obvious Lee, Aram, and Soriano dont care cause they sucked all series....Seriously all this caring crap is ridiculous. If you(not you dalgreen) think the players on this team didnt care and thats why they lost, then you are a jackass plain and simple.

LOL...yeah, I was pretty stubborn just reading and not responding.

And your right...by far this is the best site for Cubs talk. There isn't another one that comes even close, and i've looked.

agreed. that's great that mark cares. i'm sure the other 24 probably do too. some guys show it/express it differently than others.

not to take anything away from mark. i like him a lot. i just don't see how this really affects that one way or the other. they're all people. they all care about winning. and i'm sure it would even be more special to all of them if they could be part of the team that ends the suffering of generations of cubs fans.

DeRo is awesome. I'm not mad he couldn't come through with the bases loaded. He's been a great signing and I look forward to seeing what he can do next year as the full-time 2b.

When I first saw this thread I thought Mark_R was apologizing for getting drunk so early yesterday.

That was pretty damn funny.

regardless, people like seeing that the players care. It makes them feel better to know that these guys who blew it are taking it hard.
