  1. Who? Someone had posted that as they were coming back from Arizona in the airport, they had heard that Ramierez and some others had already left on Sunday morning after the game 3 loss. Pretty quick departure. I don't hold it against any of em...but that post kind of opened my eyes.
  2. bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I feel for those that have to go through the refund process, I really do. Can't imagine that the Cubs couldn't refund the fees as well...lord knows they didn't make enough from us already this year.
  3. Take away the first two months of the season and we were the 2nd hottest team in baseball next to the spankmees. Our core players are locked up next year. You would have to think Hendry will tinker to improve the holes that we have...i.e possible right handed outfielder, veteran starting pitcher, definetely some relief pitching. I just don't think panic is in order...really. I know its been 99 years, but anyone who tells me that Arizona or colorado is better then we are is just fooling themselves. And Milwaukee won't win as long as they have Ned Yost as manager. LaRussa will more then likely not be back with the Cardnals, and I think they rebuild a bit so i'll take them off the radar. We're pissed because we should have won. We were not happy to just be there as I think we were in 03. These are good signs. As inconsistant as they were the last couple weeks....the free agent signing of Lilly and Marquis were huge acquisitions. Marquis might not be in the fold next year, but you know Lilly will. We have an exciting winter ahead of us as we await spring training and the beginning of the 2008 season.
  4. And you wonder why in the offseason players flock out of here. That's such a horrible article. ARam was our MVP IMO. He's improved his defense 10 fold since 03. And he was one of our most clutch hitters during the season.
  5. Welcome to the site Rook. Man I thought I was just a "lurker" with my measly 100+ posts, but hell you been lurking for almost two years. As I'm sure you already know, this is the BEST website there is for Cubs talk and info. I really have learned more than I ever thought imaginable since I joined NSBB. LOL...yeah, I was pretty stubborn just reading and not responding. And your right...by far this is the best site for Cubs talk. There isn't another one that comes even close, and i've looked.
  6. why would we want Tejada? He used to be good. I think we should stick Trammell out there and see what happens. bahhahahahahahahaha Trammell would be great.
  7. Wouldn't it really have to be bottom line, who the new owner is? If be some grace of God, it turns out to be Cuban, how could you not think that ARod would be on the radar if he opts out? Otherwise, if not him....you would have to think that the investment they already have with all the contracts might have to be enough. Put a piece here and there, but in no way can you think that they'll be another spending spree. And if you think about it....what are you trying to piece together? Catcher? Soto is sloted with Blanco at backup. Right handed outfielder? Do you not give Murton the chance to win the spot? Don't we have Patterson in the minors, Fox, etc that can also at least fill that spot? Pitching of course.....that might be the focus of the offseason.
  8. Getting him for less is all relative I think...lol. But it's not like he'll be under any LESS pressure in the playoffs over here then he would be say with the Los Angeles/Anaheim/California/Compton Angels of Disney. That could factor in as well in his decision. Go to a team that's not under the same media pressure. I hope he's a cub....that would be one hell of a offense.
  9. Welcome to the boards. Most of us don't bite. Thanks PriorPower, I think i'll fit in quite well here.....I got a pretty thick skin....hench a die hard cub fan. But I got my shots just in case. :D
  10. I'll remember that if we win next year....lol Appreciate that Tomy
  11. *in best grizzled vet voice* welcome to the team, son. *blushing* Thanks for the welcome. You all have cracked me up for months...now it's time for me to try and add to the cause
  12. i'm not sure if this my first post or not...but it won't be my last. I am a loooooooooooooooooong time lurker, and why i start the day AFTER the cubs season ends, i'm not sure. But i'll be a regular poster from here on out. (there's your warning....) The one thing I LOVED about Michael Barrett was that he cared. He felt it was a privledge to play for the Cubs and wear that uniform. I respect that. I feel the same way about Mark DeRosa. Its evident he really cares. While i am deeply distraught that we lost and now are 100 years going, I'm glad that there are guys on that roster that just don't go through the motions and pick up a check and go. DeRosa really cares. That means something to me. He's been man enough to do all the interviews and now to post his blogs for everyone to see and to rip apart. Great site guys....i look forward to be a bigger part of it from here on out. John
