but let's pretend a huge miracle happens, and we make it to game 5. do you let lilly pitch that game, or go to marquis?

Game 5 against Webb...

You would have to throw every guy an inning. Go ahead and let Lilly go out and try and get 2-3 innings, and know that your going to use the rest of your bullpen to finish the game.

How about instead of listening to Dick "I'm wrong about everything" Stockton, you look at a calendar and realize that there's 4 days in between game 2 and game 5. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

It won't matter either way. DBags in 4. I hate everything.

Lily should pitch, Chase field is not a field for a fly ball pitcher, Lily is a flyball pitcher. I think he will fair better at home.

But he won't pitch at home. If it goes 5, it's him again in AZ.

If Lilly pitches game 5, that'd be his normal rest because of the day off between games 4 and 5.

As long as Hill doesn't crap the bed on Saturday the Cubs will win.

Isn't that what we said about Lilly? Well, Lilly crapped the bed, so why would Hill crapping the bed be any more crappable than we have already seen from this crappy team? This team is one big pile of ____.

this is why I advocate pitching Marquis Sat or Sun

it wont matter against Webb if we dont hit him, but if we do, I want Z on the mound

Damn, you beat me to it. :)

The Cubs should never pitch anybody on 3 days rest, unless they start the season, and probably more importantly, the pitchers' careers, pitching on 3 days rest. It's a stupid risky decision that rarely ever works out.

I would pitch Zambrano on Saturday and then again on Tuesday. In the 1908 world series both Mordecai Brown and Orval Overall pitched 2 games on 2 days rest. That was a hundred years ago!

Just sayin'

Call my crazy, but I would start Kerry Wood on Tuesday if it gets to a Game 5. Save him this weekend for a potential Game 5. Sure, he may only be able to go 3-4 innings at the most, but he's looked better than either Lilly or Marquis, and he's been there before. Maybe Lilly comes out of the bullpen for the middle innings, then onto the usual suspects for the late innings.

if we start kerry it better be because we're having a tour of the bullpen game and we're cool with him only throwing 45 pitches
