IF the Cubs win this game, I will buy a month of premium for me and a month of premium for Flames24Rulz.

My grandfather used to say "well, you can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other and see which gets filled first"

that's very touching

On a bright note, Kerry is looking good as of late. He could be a nice closer next year.

I hope Hendry brings him back for another incentive-laden deal and he stays healthy all year in the back of the pen. Trade Dempster and I'd enjoy seeing Howry-Marmol-Wood in the back end of the pen.

that is the best scenario. i guess its time to start talking about next year.

I'm such a minor league fanatic that I'm always looking at the future.

Did you try it and what were the results?

Still time to chip away. Let's do this.

They just have too good of a bullpen.

I realize that, but even the best of pens has had a breakdown before. The Cubs just have to be patient.

just to add to the though, i wouldn't be surprised at all if this is how it turns out. lou seems to have very little faith in dempster and for good reason at times. i dont hate or love dempster, but if there is another option there that has the potential to be better (and the cubs have a few) then i say trade him.

With Dempster being an avg reliever at best, his contract being up after next season and better options behind him, it'd be the right move to make. He doesn't help as much (esp given his salary) as a middle relieverand I wouldm't trust him in high leverage situations like I would Howry and Marmol. S

Oh my god, you're a southerner. What the hell is up with all this optimism?

that right, mofos.

Kerry Wood is pitching in the playoffs.

so how many of you stuck a fork in him over the last couple years?

I can't imagine anyone thought he'd make it back this year. He didn't believe he could do it himself just two weeks before he came back.

that's exactly the point.

just weeks before he came back, nobody thought it would happen. the expectations were completely rational. nevertheless the prediction did not come to pass. perhaps there is a parallel. that's what I want to point out: that improbably good things sometimes happen, but only if you don't quit

Alright ARAM a 2B would be great here. I'll even take a single.

I guess a GDP would work in nicely w/ your 0-fer night though.
