I read somewhere over the Weekend that the Twins are going to possibly trade Johan Santana to the Dodgers for Kemp plus others. It was obviously just some sportswriters dream. However I think the Twins would be willing to make that kind of move, so Cubs better be willing to offer at least DLee.

I've heard the rumors - they are asking for Kemp, LaRoche AND Kershaw. I'd tell the Twins to go jump off a cliff.

Can't hurt to ask unless the Twins take it literally and do jump of a cliff. This young man could create quite the bidding war.

I would tell them to take a hike also but will Colleti. Jeff Kent of all people is infuencing decisions from the owner. If I was a Dodger fan I would be real nervous about this. Also as good as Santana is he is going to be overvalued in a trade, where as Kemp is going to be undervalued.

I think having control of Kemp and Kershaw in the pre-arbi years is far more valuable than what they'd pay for Santana. Hell, Kershaw could end up being a better pitcher than Santana.

Probably but that's when the buy high/low thing takes effect. If Kemp can be taken for a song, I'd go for it. I just see Santana as a major force in the trade market and the teams with the quality young guys are the ones that may possible overpay or get a steal depending on how the young guys turn out. Arizona might be a player in this too.

imo it's hard to judge how good a Dodger pitcher is due to that park.

Teams with good young talent would be wise to get involved but the price might get too high, imo, even if you can extend Santana. I think the Yankees will get him, Arizona, LA and Anaheim are possibilities too with their young talent.

Do the Yanks have young talent to give up? I'd go for Cano and their top young guy pitcher (I can't recall his name not wang ) just to start.

Clayton Kershaw is in AA Jacksonville, he has yet to pitch a game at Dodger Stadium.

They'll need to part wih a few of Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy, Dellin Betances and Jose Tabata, but they are one of the teams that has the finances and the young talent to pull a trade like this.

I can't wait to see that Dodger Blue board in September of next year if they hire Dusty.

Classic.

Oh god. That would be OUTSTANDING to watch.

This may go down as the most epic waste of young impact talent since we managed to pull it off earlier in the decade. Too bad they don't have a young shortstop

They do.

Nah, Hu's on first.

that's the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread. I would love to see the reactions over there.

Baker is also close to Jeff Kent, who has the ear of McCourt's wife, Jamie, the team's vice chairman and president, if the Dodgers do decide to make a change.

I think this is a very telling line, Kent is the leader of the anti-young guy thing in LA (specifically Ethier, Kemp and Loney). It sounded like Colletti and Little were really opposed to trading Kemp and this might indicate that McCourt will force them to trade him.

Never let a guy renowned for sporting a porn stache get close to your wife.
