I like Lou, but not bunting with Z and then taking him out were both mistakes.

I agree on the bunting, especially when Webb has been so good.

And THAT is why you don't pull Z.

Brilliance.

So you can see the future and GUARANTEE ME that Z wouldn't have given up any runs that inning? Interesting.

I can't guarantee anything, but Z was cruising. It was dumb to pull him.

Why try to win game 4 when you can win the game now? Game 4 might not happen.

horrific move by lou....who sacrifices game 1 in order to "save z for game 4"....wow....amazing. no one's fault by lou. the guy has 8 K's with minimal pitchcount and he gets yanked for a miserable bullpen.

horrific.

Before we jump to conclusions about stupid decisions and such, let's find out if Zambrano suffered from cramps again. Lou talked before the game of letting him go 100-110 pitches.

CUBS are 11-28 when the opponent hits at least 2 HRs.... 74-49 when they don't

Go CUBS !!

Thanks for the positive stats, Fred.

Exactly. Play for the now. To hell with Game 4. He can rest during the off-season.

if he did no one would have been saying "stupid lou, you should have taken z out when he was cruising!"

No, but if Lou leaves Z in and he gets 100+ pitches and then melts down in Game 4, then people would have ripped into Lou and would call him Dusty for leaving Z in for too long in Game 1.

Z wouldn't have done that.

Way to pitch for game 4, Lou.

So you can see the future too? Well that's swell.

Youre being unreasonable. Z was pitching great. If he gave up the home run, fine that sucks. But he had 85 damn pitches. It was a terrible decision to take him out regardless of what Marmol did.

God. I really don't like our chances of coming back. Hopefully they leave webb out there one more inning and he is shaky and gives up a longball to Ramirez.

yeah, but what about 2 solo shots?

I know the REASON for pulling Z, but why do I get this feeling we're gonna lose 2-1, and that winning run for AZ will be scored in this shortly-arriving half inning??

(PLEASE LET IT JUST BE INDIGESTION!!)

damn you

(not really)

IF he would have been overused.

I agree that Z should still have been in this inning... you can't count on something you do NOT know is a 100% guarantee.

We could go back to Chitown down 0-2 because of that decision.

That's not seeing the future, technically. But yes, I can't guarantee Z wouldn't struggle. But not a good decision to go to the pen when Z could have handled another dozen pitches w/ limited negative effect.

Not a fan of playing for a future game that might not exist when this game is for the winning. Especially when Marquis is on the roster.

Who's the douche bag in Cubs gear behind home plate trying to pickup the blonde and not even watching the game. Loser.
