PROTEST! Why did Mclellan wait to make a call and then call him safe. What a blown call!

Colorado will just protest the protest, showing the blown homerun call that should have ended the game in the 9th.

people are giving Barrett crap, but he just made his best defensive play as a pro, and got hosed for it. even if he fielded cleanly, he doesn't get him, but he blocked him off the plate, and Holliday should have been called out.

instead, he will get the mvp. he just ate dirt to get into the playoffs. that will ice it.

I really didn't get that. The greatest closer ever still blew it pretty bad.

Wowowowowowowowowowow.

This is going to be a huge issue tomorrow morning. Wow.

Does anyone else smell a bit of a suspension or something coming for McClelland(sp?)??

Or at least being unable to ump the rest of the playoffs??

Extremely hard to tell, maybe his hand got in as it was coming out from under Barrett's foot, but sure didn't look like it.

In the end, I think Colorado probly wins it, but still... WOW!!

Never know though thats 2 outs no one on in a tied game anything could have happened. But If Holliday doesnt win MVP that would be a true shame.

That sums it up pretty nicely. Walking off the field bleeding is big time brownie points.

Twice in a row, too.

He converts the save Saturday or today, the Rockies don't make the playoffs.

Very unlike Hoffman. When was the last time he blew two saves in a row?

After seeing some real slow replays... I think he was out, 110% sure of it!!

It wouldn't have ended the game though. San Diego still had 6 outs left and the game would have been different with Colorado up 2 rather than just 1. You can't definitively say that the blown HR call forced the game into extra innings. It's the butterfly effect.

In this situation, the blown call at the plate ended the game. It's over now and the Padres can't do anything about it. They don't have another at bat to come back. This was it.

The best way for him to campaign would be to get up on top of the dugout bleeding from his mouth and encouraging the fans to chant MVP.

That would have capped it without a doubt.

Colorado - Philly is going to be one hell of a series. Hope the fans in the bleachers bring their gloves.

I'm pumped for all four matchups. Usually there's one that doesn't interest me that much. But this year I'm interested in all of them.

I find it wild that either Philly or Colorado will be in the NLCS.

Between the blown homerun call earlier and the way Hoffman was getting teed off of, I figure that final call was just baseball's way of balancing things out.

Am I wrong or was that Giles throw a bit of a rainbow?

Except for the fact that it ended up right there and Barret blocked Holliday off the plate, that throw was TERRIBLE!!!

That throw makes almost all of JJ's throws to home look awesome!

I know one thing for sure, if any of this crap happens to the Cubs this week I'm going to have a fit.

The umpiring is off to a very bad start so far.

The only way I can see Holliday being safe is if his left hand managed to get under Barrett's foot on the side. There's a point where Barrett lifts his foot up a bit over home plate (I think) and then brings it back down. It's hard to tell if Holliday's hand was blocked by it or got under it.

It's a stretch, though.
