Don't want to jump ahead but as a die hard Cub fan living in NJ ... I have to.

For the last several years, I have flown to Chicago twice a year to catch a weekend series at Wrigley. Last year, I had a huge wedding and as a result of saving $$$ for the wedding, I didn't come out. This year ... I paid for the wedding ... so yet again, no trip to Wrigley ...

Except ...

If the Cubs make it all the way, I want to make sure I am there so I've told my wife that I would buy tickets to Games 4 and 5 at Wrigley to make sure I was a witness to the championship if there was one. I have a limited amount of time (only 2 days left off from work) and obviously don't want to throw money around. If I'm spending the money this year, I want to make sure I see something (or at least am in a position to see something) very special.

Cubs World Series Tickets are already on several Broker sites at $2K to start. I worked for a ticket broker while I was in college so I know how this works ... but I have to admit, I have a little bit of sticker shock.

With previous events, I just wait until the day of and grab something at the last minute. The only exception to this rule (and the only time I've ever spent big bucks on anything else) was the 1999 All Star Game at Fenway. I spend $1100 for the game ticket and $400 for the Derby ticket.

The question is, do I wait on the Cubs WS tickets now ... or buy em at 2K ... and if I do that ... how crazy is that? Hard to imagine spending 4K on 2 tickets ... but I would be so upset if I missed it.

Any ideas?

I've thought about it too...I think there are two questions....how much would a hypothetical WS ticket cost, and how much would a "clinching game" cost...I "think" you could get one game for $1500/2000 at game day....however, if it really wuld happen that a clinching game might possibly happen in Chicago, only God knows what they'd go for...hypothetically of course.

I've been thinking about the same exact thing. I went ahead and booked flight/hotel for the end of oct just incase. As far as tickets go we will see what happens but if anything I'll be right outside Wrigley.

Honestly, I think I could live with just being at a bar in Wrigleyville watching on TV.

Same here. I don't live in Chicago, but I know I'll at least be in Wrigleyville if the Cubs make it that far. I might even have a hook-up for tickets, so I've got all my fingers & toes crossed...

My friends and I were all set to drive up from Iowa City in '03 just to soak up the atmosphere. Stupid Marlins.

I find it terribly hard to justify spending that much money on a sporting event. My memories would be more significant sitting at home with a group of family and friends than bouncing in Wrigley with assloads of strangers and maybe 1 person I know.

I apply the same logic here that fat ladies everywhere should consider before buying spandex -- just because you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

I did from Champaign for Game 7.

Me too, but part of me thinks "once in a lifetime" and I cannot deny I would be tempted. I'm sure those tix will go. Weren't there seats going for 10k in '03?

If they made it, there's a whole group of us who will assemble from across the country and watch together so it will be fun either way.

I'll def be right outside the stadium for games if they were to happen. Tickets well that matters how damn lucky I get lol.
