  1. Don't want to jump ahead but as a die hard Cub fan living in NJ ... I have to. For the last several years, I have flown to Chicago twice a year to catch a weekend series at Wrigley. Last year, I had a huge wedding and as a result of saving $$$ for the wedding, I didn't come out. This year ... I paid for the wedding ... so yet again, no trip to Wrigley ... Except ... If the Cubs make it all the way, I want to make sure I am there so I've told my wife that I would buy tickets to Games 4 and 5 at Wrigley to make sure I was a witness to the championship if there was one. I have a limited amount of time (only 2 days left off from work) and obviously don't want to throw money around. If I'm spending the money this year, I want to make sure I see something (or at least am in a position to see something) very special. Cubs World Series Tickets are already on several Broker sites at $2K to start. I worked for a ticket broker while I was in college so I know how this works ... but I have to admit, I have a little bit of sticker shock. With previous events, I just wait until the day of and grab something at the last minute. The only exception to this rule (and the only time I've ever spent big bucks on anything else) was the 1999 All Star Game at Fenway. I spend $1100 for the game ticket and $400 for the Derby ticket. The question is, do I wait on the Cubs WS tickets now ... or buy em at 2K ... and if I do that ... how crazy is that? Hard to imagine spending 4K on 2 tickets ... but I would be so upset if I missed it. Any ideas?
  2. I disagree ... I would have rather had Meche ...
  3. That clip is EXACTLY why we need him here - he has the intensity we need
  4. From All Star Stats - David Kaplan on WGN radio said he believes the Cubs are discussing a Barry Zito deal with the Athletics. Matt Murton or Felix Pie would be nice, but the A's probably aren't going to deal Zito without getting some immediate help and the Cubs don't have a lot to offer. We're skeptical that the A's would trade Zito for one of the outfielders and either Jerome Williams or Rich Hill. Dec. 30 - 12:22 am et
  5. guys and gals . . .it's natural to root against another team in the city - No Yankee fan cheers for the Mets No Giant fan cheers for the Jets No Cub fan cheers for the Sox. Comon now!!!
  6. OK OK - I guess the point I was trying to make when I started this thread is simple - You can't cheer for both teams . . . I find it hard to believe that real Cub fans can root for the Sox - I just don't believe this "It's for the city" stuff. Don't get lured into the fact that part of the town is celebrating and you're not . . .it will make it a lot less sweet when the Cubs win knowing you cheered with the Sox!! Those of you who are doing it . . and not admitting it . . . it will come back to you . . .I promise!!! Don't get caught up in the celebration just because it is in your backyard!!! Again, I don't live in Chicago - but In NY - it is trash talk city when the Yanks win and the Mets loose - I know how the Met fans feel every year . . . I KNOW it is the same in Chicago -
  7. I couldn't disagree more . . .
  8. I know this might be a sore topic for some . . .but I can't help throwing in my two cents. I grew up a Cub fan living in the New York area. As a huge baseball fan in general, I've spent a good deal of my time at both Yankee and Shea Stadium. There are very few in the NY area that cheer for "both" NY teams. I just find it hard to believe that you can grow up cheering and pouring your emotions into one team on one side of town . . .and then cheer for the other team on the other side of town it they make it to the dance and you don't. It makes me sick to my stomach reading all the stories about Cub fans, now rooting for the White Sox . . .I can't stand it . . .nor can I stomach watching any of these World Series games . . .it's like a Cubs fans worst nightmare . . . Not only that . . .but in Chicago . . .what Cub fan wants to see the White Sox bring home the first championship in Chicago in ages??? I know here, if the Mets made it to the WS and the Yanks were watching from home . . Yankee fans would rally against the Mets more than ever before. Look - baseball is a game . . .I can honestly say congrats to the Sox. Sure, they had a great season . . .and they are a very good ballclub . . . Cheer for the Sox? . . .I think not. I was pulling for the stros in 4 . . .I guess I will have to try and make it 5.
  9. I don't think that will be happening B . . . :)
