If you don't have cable right now, pay the $50 bucks or whatever it is to get cable for October and then cancel your service after we win the World Series. It's pretty simple.

Don't cable companies require a minimum service agreement with penalty for early termination? I know cell phone companies do, and so does DirecTV; I assume cable companies do too, but I'm not sure.

I'd guess that for the big digital packages and all that, you're right. But I would think that for the basic cable package, you could pull something like this off.

I think the only way you'd have to sign a service agreement is if you took advantage of a discounted offer. If you paid regular fees, you can have it for as little as one month with no problem.

I have Comcast and all I pay for is broadband internet service. One day a customer service rep called me and told me that included with my internet would be a limited amount of cable channels. I get WGN, TBS, E!, FX, and of course the major networks along with a few others. I don't know if this is a company wide thing or just available in the Indy area.

According the DirecTV, TBS HD (amongst others) was launched today. I don't know what channel, but look forward to checking it out tonight.

DirecTV channel 247. I totally forgot about the launch of new HD channels, and just discovered them now.

Sweet.

But not in HD though.

When the NBA on TNT playoffs were on, the Comcast Sports Channel was allowed to have their own people do the Bulls game on their own channel. I wish they would allow that for the opening series on the MLB playoffs.

Some Comcast systems have added TBS-HD today (not in Chicago yet). Word is they are trying to have it added by gametime Wed. Hopefully it is sooner than later.

Comcast is terrible. I've been thinking about switching to direcTV for a few months now. This would pretty much make up my mind for me if Comcast doesn't get TBS HD by gametime on Wednesday.

What bothers my ass is that TBS was working fine during baseball season, but now it requires a "Access Card" for me to get access into the NLDS.

Are you kidding me? How can I get around this?

Kansas City with Plaza Gardens Cable.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the Cubs.

If you get TBS, you'll get the Cubs.

Looks like I won't be. For some reason, I'm getting the "Insert your Access Card" on TBS channel.

Comcast added TBS-HD overnight. It is on channel 219 here in Bartlett (should be same throughout Chicago area). As of right now the guide is showing TBS-HD data, but they are actually showing NFL Network programming. Hopefully they fix it soon.

edit: As of 9am they fixed it and now it is showing TBS!

probably already stated, but for $8 you can watch a month's worth of games on MLB video. I don't get cable at all at home (I'm a Luddite) but I do have broadband (a very selective Luddite). I watched the game last night in bed on my laptop and it wasn't at all bad.
