Adam Dunn said he's surprised more people haven't gotten hurt at Wrigley because the outfield is in such bad shape.

"That outfield is dangerous. I’m surprised more people don’t get injured out there. It’s as bad as there is. It’s worse than playing in a parking lot," Dunn said. "It looked like they had a monster truck rally. There’s potholes. It’s bad. It’s unsafe."

If you're like me, you've been wanting Dunn for a long time. I'm guessing the odds of his coming here voluntarily are negatively impacted by this.

Id just assume not have another guy whose going to strike out every other at bat.

Please tell me more. The "Adam Dunn strikes out a lot" discussion has been woefully under-argued on this board.

Id like to have a guy who hits 266/387/556. But you keep worrying about those strike-outs while our contact hitters keep rolling into double plays.

Amen! There have been quite a few at bats in the last 2 or 3 weeks that I would have gladly had end in a strikeout as opposed to what actually happened.

Anybody know where I can find any metrics on GiDPs for the season? It sure feels like they have gone through the roof lately.

I know who we should get then... Juan Pierre!

Isn't the field supposed to be torn up and redone this offseason?

Yup. Thank God. Between Wrigley and Soldier Field, Chicago sucks at keeping grass healthy

I remember hearing that the field project was put on hold until the team got new owners. I may be wrong about that, but I don't think I am.

It was supposed to be, but there was talk about a month ago that the sale of the team may mean that project is put on hold indefinitely. I don't know if that's been resolved.

Personally, Id take Torii Hunter over Dunn.

Then I'm ridiculously glad you're not the general manager.

"Assume" instead of "as soon" added to the list

I wish people would get over the fact that Torii Hunter is not the defensive genius the folks at ESPN want you to believe he is.

You mean ESPN is overhyping him? BLASPHEMY!

Personally, Id take Torii Hunter over Dunn. With him and Jacque Jones the way hes been playing, there would never be another base hit anywhere near right field again.

Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27

Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31

Player A, please.

The Cubs are 9th in the NL with 121 GIDP.

Yep, but what I was wondering is if anyone know of a week by week or month by month breakdown to see if we actually are hititng into a lot more DPs lately or if it's just my weak mind playing tricks on me.

Your stats don't reflect defense or the grit factor.

Way to cherry pick stats! You conveniently left off the most important ones. Ks, Zone Rating, RBI, and BA w/ RISP.

Are you saying all of those stats are more important than OBP, or OPS?

Actually, I just now fully read what you wrote. Is this sarcasm?

I am saying that they are the most important stats and that only computers value OPS (which is a made up stat Billy Beane is using to trick people).

Also Fear Factory is awesome, but also only if you are a computer.
