This one can pretty much go on Jason Kendall.

Yeah, let's blame Kendall for the rest of the offense's inability to not be able to hit Joel Piniero. Let's blame him for having a pitcher on the mound that can't put that behind him and continue to throw pitch after pitch after pitch. Yep, the loss sure goes on Kendall.

Would be a nice time for Kendall to approach Lou and say "Skip, I'm hurting the team now, so you better put Soto in there".

*ahem*

A DH sweep would be great... But I have a gut feeling (dude) that game 1 will be a win and game 2 will be a loss. Even though Cubs owned Piniero last time out, you should never use logic and reason with this team.

>_>

O well. Get 3/4 tomorrow.

yea, cuz we hit soo well against JOEL FREAKIN PENEIRO for 4+ innings....

I did not see the game, but am I missing something?

Kendall had an error on a strikout but that was followed by walk, double, single, sacrifice, triple.

The pitching has some most of the responsibility here. Errors are going to happen.

Had that piece of crap on the ropes but, in typical Cubs fashion, they went into their no score mode for the remainder of the game.

By the way is Sean Marshall ever going to figure he's got a better chance pitching ahead in the count? His long layoff notwithstanding, he better work on throwing strikes in the offseason or he won't be long for this league.

we were down by 1 run for 6 innings, this isnt all on Jason Kendall, as much as I dislike him as a player

Offense sucked against Joel Piniero. I still can't get over that.

"Tip your cap."

It all comes down to Quade twice becoming the reincarnation of Wavin' Wendall.

the first one was understandable, though with the bases juiced i'd prefer to keep them that way and hope for multiple runs in the inning than send a gimpy baserunner on a ball he's got a 50/50 chance of scoring on. The second one was just terrible though.

People are blaming Kendall for this loss? Seriously?

Piniero retired (at least) 15 straight. Chalk this one up to a crappy offense and Marshall not being able to get through 4 innings. Blaming Kendall is [expletive].

While it was our offenses fault, Kendall didnt help Marshall much at all. Kendalls D is a huge detriment to this team, and thats coming from somebody who doesnt really believe in the whole catchers D most important crap.

The first one would have been understandable in the eighth or ninth inning.

It was the first inning, and it was clear that we had the entire game to score that "one more run". It was a terrible play given the situation and how poorly Joel was pitching at the time. Better to keep the bases full and keep up the pressure on Joel.
