So, is the assumption Trachsel will make that one spot start in STL and otherwise be the long guy out of the pen?

I quit a long time ago trying to assume and figure out exactly what the hell Hendry is doing.

I'm wondering, and hoping like hell, that he's got some other deal up his sleeve.

It'd be nice, but I seriously doubt that Trachsel would be more enticing bait for another team than Cherry or Moore would be. I think he just let himself get hosed by Baltimore again.

Hey to be fair it does look like we hosed them out of Kevin Hart for Fast Freddy. But yea there is no other deal. Hendry is supposed to be in the booth with Len and Bob today so I cant wait to hear the "Hes a veteran" "we really like him" "hes a winner" and "hes been there".

So with Moore and Cherry going for Trachsel does that open up a spot on the 40 man roster? Who'll fill it?

We were already a man short before this deal on the 40 man.

I posted this in the Trachsel thread, but I'll post it here too. From the Trib:

Trachsel is 6-8 with a 4.48 earned-run average at Baltimore but is 1-1 in six August starts with a 2.37 ERA. He'll likely become the long man in the bullpen and a spot starter as well. The Cubs will need a sixth starter for their Sept. 15 double-header at St. Louis.

So if Z is our ace, and Trachsel's August was better than Z's was, does that make Trachsel our new ace?

It's one thing to have a celebrity spokesman selling your product, but when you use that person's name in your slogan, ie "Chevy - Drive what Ron Santo drives!" you should really consider firing your entire marketing department.

How 'bout the marketing department that thought it would be a good idea to have Santo and Seattle Sutton reading from scripts ???

I haven't heard this one yet - This is one of those rare and super-crappy days which the gameday audio broadcast is of the actual broadcast and not the closed-circuit feed, so I'm stuck with commercials rather than dead air with stadium noise in the background. I much prefer the latter.

Jesus, not a great start to the day. Marshall's control problems and the worst trade ever.
I wouldn't call it the worst trade ever, just the worst acquisition ever. Sure, there was more value to be had for those guys, but we didn't sacrifice people who would have been regulars on the ML roster.
