Taking Marshall out after just 72 pitches was an interesting decision. I would have just let him bat in the top of the inning. And I would have said that before Ward hit into the DP but I didn't realize Ward was pinch hitting.

What happens if Marshall stays in? Does his arm fall off after 80 pitches? Geez, I know you need to protect young pitchers, but that's freakin' ridiculous.

It had nothing to do with the pitch count. Piniella was trying to break the game open there and it backfired on him.

Once again, Piniella overmanaging.

Just managing. He had to make a decision and it did not work out. Really I can see it being justified either way, but Piniella is known as a guy that likes to play for the big innings so it is consistent with his normal strategy.

I don't think so.

Agreed. Marshall looks like he's allergic to lumber when he goes up to bat. Granted, Ward didn't work out, but I'd much rather have him batting over Marshall in that situation.

That strike 3 was low. There's no way that's a strike.

Really, I thought it looked good.

it didn't look really close to a strike to me.

I thought it was low. The DBacks have been yappin' all night, this ump isn't having any of it.

I'm happy about a Bonds homer...ew

I know. I feel dirty now, gonna go hop in the shower.

I'm shameless. No problem hating Bonds one second, and rooting for him the next in my own self-interest 8-)
