Why Floyd over Pie??

 

Pie is not allowed to bat anymore apparently, but Fontenot and his sub .600 OPS since the break gets to. Hell I would have been happy with Floyd Pie Ward in the OF if it means DeRo is at 2nd and not Fontenot.

 

Yeah, I think Fontenot has long passed his useful period. But since he was hot 2 months ago, Lou is overlooking the fact that he has been awful for well over a month.

 

Players do slump. Surprising, I know.

We're keeping Pie rested for the playoffs.

 

Piniella is miffed, he cannot accept Floyd's power stroke isn't coming back.

He's been slumping since the beginning of July. He put up a .480 OPS in July and has a .592 OPS in August.
