In another lineup effort how about if we interchange Murton and Sori?

I think the main reason you were criticized for that order was D-Lee hitting 7th. We need to ride out this slump -- he's still the best hitter in the lineup when Sori and A-ram are out.

I very well could be wrong but I remember other slumps for DLee.

Again, I'm not saying I'm sure of said slumps but If someone could prove me wrong or right I'd be happy to change the lineup around for another desperate attempt at a lineup.

Huh?

Of course he's had other slumps. Every player has slumps. That doesn't mean you radically change the lineup every time a player is slumping. You don't move your best (or 1a) hitter into the 7 slot because he's having a rough week or so. It's absurd.

This isn't a computer simulation.

But... Murton could do it!

Murton's our savior.

I wouldn't mind movie Lee out of the 3 spot next year

Riot

Lee

A-Rod

A-Ram

Soriano

;)

You really don't want a ram and a rod so close together.

so now anyone who slumps is hurt?

Nobody said Derrek was hurt. The question was Derrek looks like crap at the plate, could he be hurt.

Now my take. I think Derrek is afraid of getting hit again, so he isn't covering the outside of the plate. Derrek got hit on the hand/wrist area early in the season if I recall correctly. Then during one of the series with St. Louis, thier pitcher went up and in on him and they spent the rest of the series pitching on the outside of the plate. Now it seems almost ever team we face gets one up and in on Derrek and then a consistent barrage of pitches on the outer edge of the plate. I think thats why he was so pissed when Chris Young put one near his head. The non swings and weak swings we are seeing from Lee aren't like anything we have seen from him since he has been here. I think teams have discovered he wants no part of diving out over the plate to drive the outside pitch and as long as they can get him out staying outside, they will.

seems pretty clear that the idea was he is 3 for his last 22, oh crap, is he hurt? No, he is just slumping seems like a pretty likely answer.

unless it's rich hill - he's either emotionally unstable or a moron when he's slumping

Or Marshall. A bad game and he's "inconsistent".

One question I have is the wrist injury from last year affecting his power first of all? Also, could that be why he is so uncomfortable still maybe his wrist just hasn't felt the same since the injury? I dk but i would love to see D Lee start hitting the ball for doubles and power again I miss it.

Last time I checked, he's been smacking doubles all season. And his home run swing had started to come before the slump over the past week or so.

that's true he has been hitting for doubles all year long my mistake. Maybe the slump has just got me thinking he hasn't hit for doubles. He does already have as many homers in the 2nd half as he had in the first half 6 in the first 6 in the 2nd if im not mistaken? Hopefully he can knocked about 18 more out if he gets out of this slump. 30 Total would be pretty good to finish with after only 6 in the first half.

and since many of the hits that used to be home runs are now doubles, we can surmise that.... yes, the wrist injury likely sapped his power.

DLee has been part of our offensive struggles. With no power and now that his avg is getting lower and lower he might have to be moved from the #3 spot.

And replaced by...

Move Lee to the #2 spot for the time being, and move all other players up.

18??? He's only hit 12 so far. He'd have to hit 18 homers in a third of a season, which might be within reach for Prince Fielder or Ryan Howard, but Derrek Lee has never been a tremendously prolific power hitter. Even getting to the mid 20s would be a major accomplishment.

Well maybe he'd go into a power slugging fest. The man isn't a prolific power hitter but I think he has the ability to hit 18 home runs in a third of a season. Some of his home runs are absolute shots it's all about getting into a groove and having a good stroke at the plate. Ok, really though i'd be happy if he managed maybe even 12 more. When I watch the games It seems that he has trouble hitting the outside pitches over the fence then when they come inside on him he seems more than surprised and more often than not he rolls it over into a ground ball.

but Truffle Shuffle 18... we can all dream can't we? haha

There's no way Lee's getting 18 homers from here on out. I'd be more than happy if he finishes with 20+ homers overall, which means 8 more the rest of the way.

Stupid thread title. Really got me worried for nothing. FYI, a slumping player isn't automatically injured.

A) How is asking a question a stupid thread title?

B) Where did anyone say he is automatically hurt?
