its just a rumor from mlb4u.com about players who could posibly be put on waivers, but how huge would Hunter be to the Cubs? Id give the Twins the keys to the farm system for him.

wow, I wouldn't

For someone your not guaranteed to have after this year, that wouldn't be too smart.

He's a FA at season's end. I wouldn't give them the keys to our farm system even if we could re-sign him.

Even if he wasn't a FA at season's end, why would you?

Hunter has already said that he doesn't want to play in chicago because of what happened to dusty and jones.

Even though I don't want him here... here's a hint to avoid a Dusty or JJ "situation"... perform up to your capabilities. You'll be beloved in no time.

Torii Hunter would put on a Cubs uniform and become another Joke JOnes.

Toriis younger, better, and hes the best defensive outfielder on the planet. If nothing else se could just keep him on the team long enough for Joke and Pagan to see how its done.

he also had a tongue and cheek comment of: "I don't want to play in Chicago because there are bricks behind the ivy"

Even if he is the best defensive outfielder in the game, he's still not good enough offensively to "give the keys to the farm system" to the Twins for him. We already have a great defensive OF on this team (Pie) who is incredibly cheap. We don't need defensive upgrades in the OF unless they come with big offensive upgrades. And we certainly don't need to give up the farm for a 32-year-old OF with a career OPS under .800. He's having a great year, but that's outrageous.

i would say they've both declined steeply defensively. hell i'd probably take pie over both of them defensively at this point.

in all fairness to jj, it seems like he is. he's just not very good.

the JJ bashing goes a bit far at times. Last year he was pretty good for us. And this year, I can't see how you wouldn't think he's underperforming. No matter what his ceiling is, he's not playing near it.

Very few players actually play at their ceiling though.

JJ bashing goes far because his suckitude goes far. He was okay (but his SLG heavy OPS was vastly overrated given his continued lacking in OBP). His AVG/OBP are right in line with 3 of the past 4 seasons, the only "strange" underperformance is his power.

he played way above his head last season, which was arguably the 2nd best season in his career. he's definitely hitting way fewer hrs than his past numbers would suggest (though he's projected to have an above average year in doubles), but who on this team isn't? the only real reason i expect a lot out of him is that he's making way more money than his production dictates.

well its not like he saying that much, our farm system is very over-rated.

Hunter has already said that he doesn't want to play in chicago because of what happened to dusty and jones.

I have already said I wouldn't want Torii to play for the Cubs because he's one of the most overrated players in the game.

Because he's better than Jones and Floyd? I agree that he's overrated, but I'd still take him for the rest of this season.

He's marginally better yes, but LLF wanted to offer up the farm for him. He's not Cabrera.

Oh yeah, there's no question I wouldn't trade the farm for someone like Hunter.
