My guess is it's an attempt to slow down the Cubs running game. It's no secret that the Cubs will try running more now that they are missing Sori's power.

Our outfield sucks, we can't score any runs, Marquis sucks, Kendall doesn't do anything, Pie is in the minors tearing it up yet he isn't here, Soto is doing the same, Matt Murton sits on the bench while he should be playing, Soriano gets hurt.
