Setback for Blanco

A few hours after manager Lou Piniella estimated that catcher Henry Blanco might be ready to return from neck and shoulder injuries within 10 days, Blanco said that wouldn't happen.

Despite homering in his last rehab game Sunday with Class A Peoria, Blanco has been shut down for at least a few days because of continuing soreness in his left shoulder. He said he didn't know what medical tests the team might want to do and seemed certain he wouldn't return in 10 days.

''I'm not ready, but we'll see how it is in a couple of days,'' he said. ''It's getting better. Let's hope it's nothing serious.

Hows that work about the 20 day rule or whatever it is about rehab stints in the minors? If the player is still hurt, or gets hurt again does it apply? Hanks been down there now for about 10 days or so I think.

If a guy gets healthy and starts to rehab I think the team can keep him down there for 10 days without his consent. But if he says he's good to go and they keep trying to make him rehab, I think he can file a grievance or something and get himself called up or released. If Blanco says he's not ready, he's not going to complain about a prolonged rehab stint.

Maybe he and Hendry have come to an agreement to wait for Sept callups.

Yeah. When I saw him in Peoria last weekend, he didn't look any different from the A ball guys. I wish they'd let him go.

I believe Soto is leading the league in OPS now....

17 home runs and counting...

It's not like he's bad behind the plate...

Or old...

Free Soto.

It really sucks.

Koyie Hill is up here because the staff (and Z) love him even though Soto can call a good game too from what I've heard/read.

Kendall is a Hendry pet, so he's not going anywhere, ever.

Soto is trapped.
