Kendall + Eyre for Barrett.

I'd do it.

SD wouldn't...it was a joke.

yea but i'd still go for it, throw in Hill and call up Soto :)

Barrett really isn't doing that great either. A whole .263/.263/.338 line in 80 AB's with the Padres. Not to mention that he has three more passed balls with the Padres.

We have the answer at catcher in our system. Hendry is just being too stubborn and foolish as usual regarding that.

Joel Sherman has this tidbit in today's column. I will be nine kinds of pissed if the reason Pie came out of Thursday's game was for Gerald F. Laird and relief pitching, even if it is Gagne. Seriously, Pie?

Another sign that the Teixeira trade is near and that Texas will get Saltalamacchia is that the Rangers are talking to teams about their starting catcher, Gerald Laird. The Cubs have interest in Laird and Rangers relievers, and might include center field prospect Felix Pie to get that.

Yeah this was posted somewhere else, there's no way that's happening. Hendry is not stupid enough to trade Pie for a light-hitting catcher.

What on earth is even remotely interesting about Laird? He has a career OPS under .700. Is he great behind the dish?

Yeah, he'd need the ability to convince umpires our pitchers only get 2 outs instead of three to be a worthwhile acquisition.

Hasn't Kendall actually started to hit lately? After Lou stated he was going to use both catchers equally, Kendall has started 3 straight games and got on base fairly frequently.

Blanco seems to be getting close to being ready as well, and I would think the combination of Kendall and Blanco would be just as good as Laird.
