Zambrano signing an extension worth 17 million annually adds less than 5 million to the payroll. He's already making 12+ this year. Put another way, adding Griffey and extending Zambrano adds only 7 million to the payroll if coupled with Jones and Eyre not being on the club next year.

Also of note, the Cubs aren't facing any jumps in arbitration this year. Their only eligibles right now are Ohman, Wuertz, and Cotts.

Let's be clear. Brennaman said it very well COULD be Dunn's last at-bat, and the color guy -- don't know his name -- said he thought it was his last at-bat. His opinion. Said Reds usually keep their cards close to the vest but there's been a lot of action there.

Wow. I didn't notice that. To me, that makes it much more realistic that Hendry can add Griffey to this team.

Also, isn't Prior arby-eligible?

Ack, forgot about Prior. He's not going to be getting any type of raise though, and in the off chance he does it's not going to be much at all, < 1 mil.

If Prior gets a raise, then the Cubs would non-tender him IMO. My guess is that he gets the full 20 percent decline in arbitration-I mean, he didn't throw a pitch this year, so I'm not sure how Prior could convince an arbiter that he deserves more than the mininum allowed (which is around 3 million for him next year).

Hopefully the Dunn fanatics took notice of Dunn's 3 consecutive o-fers this weekend.

I'm so blinded by love I didn't see it!

That's what I heard on T.V., although I thought Brenneman was the radio guy.

They were saying 'could be' , but that doesn't seem like SOP to me.

Wouldn't it be kind of weird for the announcers to be speculating on something like that?

Marty B. on his call in show Friday before the game said he wasn't allowed to speculate on trades, that it could be seen as tampering. I don't know.

Please don't confuse him for me.

More so in this case than any other.

I was at the Cincinnati airport after the game, taking a dump in the bathroom. All of a sudden, this big burly guy pokes his head in the stall, and wouldn't ya know, its Adam Dunn. He says, "You a Cubs fan?" I tell him that I am, and he says, "Watch the news tonight, kid. Looks like the northside is getting a new LF'er." And then he winks at me.

I don't care if you guys believe me, but we did trade for Dunn. It might be a few days before he can start for us though because I did file charges.

This is absolutely impossible.

We all know the Cubs are just crazy enough to play Dunn in right if they acquire him, not left.

Are you taking a dump in the airport with the door unlocked or open? How the hell does he take a peak in, and why would he do that. Does he not see your feet?

Adam Dunn observes none of your trivial rules. He does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, such as striking out, taking a walk, hitting a homerun, and disregarding social mores involving people taking a grumpy.

"Jesus, Tom! I was only speculatin' on a hypothesis!"

Dunn looked pretty bad at the plate this weekend, but so did Soriano one or twice. I'd love to have him....

...but I'd rather have Griffey.

I'll take both

Umm, hello? He's tall, he can peak OVER the door. Get with it, dude.
