Figured that Cedeno would get the call up. I wonder if he'll get some playing time or if Theriot will continue being the starting SS.

Wow 3 hours ago this was said and this is the first topic on it?

Any WSCR listerners hear the same? It wouldn't be the first time that AM 1000 jumped the gun and got it wrong? Any other sources or news?

Levine just mentioned it again. He sounds pretty sure about it. He's asking Cub fans to call in to say what they think about Cedeno splitting time at SS. Must be true.

Levine just said he talked to Lou over the weekend, and Lou said he was going to give Cedeno time at SS. Sounds like it might be split about 50/50 between the two.

I could live with that.

cedeno at ss, theriot at 2b, derosa in rf. scary as it sounds, that might be the best the cubs can do.

they need to upgrade this offense.

Why the hell did we call up a slumping shortstop who makes a lot of errors just when Theriot starts doing well?

Anyone know the number for ESPN?

Dear Ronny Cedeno,

Try to not be a dummy on the basepaths this time around, Lou doesn't like this.

when has Ronny been on the basepaths enough for Lou to notice?

Zing!

In his limited appearances on base, he managed to overslide 2b (on a walk!) and otherwise look totally clueless as to what he should do in some pretty obvious situations this year... er, April.

Cedeno hasn't been hitting for as much power recently, I'll grant... but he's still batting .310 in his last 10 games. And why on earth are you using errors to judge a player's defense? I thought the world was past that archaic mode of thought.

Slumping? His power is a little down over the last couple of weeks, but I would hardly call him slumping.

He has an OPS near 1.000 in AAA. Hardly call that slumping.

His defense doesn't worry me one bit.

Great range don't mean crap when he drops the ball every time he gets to it, and considering the hitter paradise in Iowa's AAA league, I don't agree with this call up one bit. Need I remind you we have a right fielder who lives life day to day.

Wow hyperbole at its finest. You are going to criticize Cedeno because of his D, and the advocate calling up Murton whos D is alot more suspect then Cedenos? I like Murton and have no problem with him in RF but you cant criticize Cedeno's D, and then advocate Murton.

I think you are severely overestimating Cedeno's fielding deficiencies. Hitter friendly league or not, Cedeno has been hitting well and with a decent amount of power when compared to the other hitters in his league. He has nothing left to prove in AAA, let him play with the big boys for a couple hundred more PA's and if he can't adjust send him to a sucker.
