When you see a pitcher hasn't got anything, why do you continue to run him out there. Ervin Santana was bad from the first inning through the 6th. They could have gotten him out of there with minimal damage, but no. He was super lucky to make it into the 4th only giving up 2 runs, but it was obvious he wasn't fooling anyone.

How do you like this line: 6 IP, 14 hits, 4 walks, 7 ER

That's a 3.00 WHIP

Why would you let a guy go that long before pulling him?

I thought this was going to be a rant on the way Piniella managed last night's game. He's not dumb, but I thought last night was about as bad as you can manage a close ballgame:

1. Removing Marshall after 86 pitches at 6 innings. I can understand if he's up at 100 and laboring, but he was cruising.

2. Marmol batting for himself with Zito well over 100 pitches in a 2-2 game in the 7th. Baffling.

3. Leaving Marmol in the game for the 8th. Wuertz was fresh and available. Why stretch Marmol, again, for 1+. Marmol probably needs 2+ days rest after logging 4 innings and 76 pitches in the first 5 games out of the break.

4. Leaving Ohman in the game after the Bonds AB. This even had Len confused.

Yeah, not exactly a game Lou should write home about.

And right after a game he did everything right (pitchout on squeeze, hit an run with Derrek Lee).

I thought it was fitting that the guy who is supposed to be the Cubs answer to offensive problems at catcher,.......was pinch hit for in the 9th.

yeah, needless to say hendry has completely butchered the catcher spot this season. it's been a disaster.

another brilliant hendry blunder - getting a terrible player to fix a non-hole on the roster. but hey, he traded for Ramirez and Lee!

And he got rid of Hundley.

What? I haven't heard, but I'll guess that Ervin got pulled from the rotation. I'm fine with that. He sucks. And I thought he was going to put it all together this year.

I'm down to 4 pitchers. Dammit.
