This sucks. I'm going to join Mike Vick's dog fighting ring.

"Win or Die Trying" really comes into effect.

I'll give Kendall a mulligan. I hope he was just nervous. Anyway, Lou said he's getting the day off (and will be back on Thursday). Koyie will be catching Z.

yea, i'm gonna give him a mulligan cuz he had a lot of travel, new team....but pry wise to stick with hill catchin big Z cuz that has seemed to work well the past month and a half.

Aramis Ramirez went 0-4 with an error in his first game as a Cub too. I'm not directly comparing the two, I just think we could give him more than a game before rendering judgment. I second the mulligan.

I do too. It's the first game. I am pulling for him. He sounded very happy to be here and I am all for that.

ARam wasn't on the downside of his career when we acquired him either...bad comparison.

I think it's fair to directly compare Kendall and Aramis. Both are former Pirates. Both are right-handed hitters.

They're both human males.

Apparently it's not worth the time or attention for people to read past the first few words of other posts...sweet.

If you're not trying to compare the two, then why bring them up in the same context, your disclaimer notwithstanding? By associating the two, you are implicitly comparing them...

Good lord, it was simply in order to say that a very good player also had a bad first day as a Cub. If my position requires clarification, fine. Jason Kendall is nowhere near as good as ARam. But I don't care to judge him by his first day. You can feel free to disagree, and you can infer whatever you want about what was or was not implicit in my post.

kendall was no the only reason we lost the game, only a part of it (albeit a big part of it, and given the fact that he was supposed to have minimal impact, not negative one, hes going to be the scape goat).

lou's horrible mismanagement of the 8th inning. How do you let ohman face 2 more batters after getting bonds out. Shoulda thrown weurtz in their asap.

And will ohman, HOW THE HELL DO YOU WAlK 2 CONSECUTIVE BATTERS TO LET THE GIANTS TAKE THE LEAD. We gotta get rid of this schmuck. DAVE FREAKIN ROBERTS WILL.

The cubs offense and pitching as a whole were horrible when it came to walks. We surrendered 7 walks to a very impatient giants team, while we let the supposedly erratic Zito keep us to the minimum of 0. That is a huge disapointment.

Overall, bad game by most of the whole team. And lets not try Soriano at the 5th spot anymore. In theory, it shoulldnt be a problem, but the guy is hitting .170 when he isnt leading off, so lets stick with what works.

I'm mainly disappointed that the Cubs have managed 5 runs in 2 games against the pathetic Giants. Hopefully they can bring that average up against Cain tomorrow and especially Morris on Thursday.

Who's up with the next game thread? We need to move on from today's game.

Earth2sean. I talk to him regularly over AIM... He's away right now. He's usually on all night, though. It will probably be up before sunrise most likely.

This is never going to end is it?

Not until the end of the season, when the Cubs finish out of the playoffs and Hendry reprises his 2006 mantra: "I just can't put my finger on what went wrong."
