Damn, I'd just checked earlier this week and they hadn't been added yet. :x

I'm pretty sure the '07 draftees (selected first round players, anyway) were added on Wednesday.

Snyder & Joba got added on Monday.

I've been dying for waivers to run all week long. :D

And I think it was Monday when I checked. I should have checked again before waivers were processed; the All-Star break seems to be a logical time to update the database.

Well hell - Price, Moustaks, Vitters, Wieters, Snider and Chamberlain? Wow, Tim.

there's gotta be a better way to do that...that's just stupid.

I didn't think there was any way I'd get all those guys through waivers. Too many guys in this league check the db too regularly. I figured you, Quakers, HBC at the very least would be all over the new additions.

I agree... The reason you got them all thru waivers is because nobody else knew they were there. You should have mentioned it when you first noticed in order to make it fair. There has to be a better way here to ensure it's fair to everyone.

Obviously I have a different viewpoint here, but this is a level playing field. Everyone has equal access to the db. The rules have been the same for a long time now -- finder's keepers.

I would bet that I'm as busy in my non-fantasy-baseball life as anyone in the league. But I find a few secs each day to hop on the site, check the scores and run through my list of players I want added to the db. I've been checking for Snider (or Snyder), Joba, McGee & others about every day for the better part of the season. When I saw there were a bunch of new players added over the ASB, I checked to see who else may have been put into the db.

Each and every person in the league has that same ability to make that time and do that searching. Heck, with waivers you only have to check the database the night before waivers run to find all new players in the db - once or twice a week. The process itself is perfectly fair, though the results in this case may seem skewed.

That said, if people want to change the rules, I'm perfectly willing to go along.

I disagree. I was out of town on business when this took place. Many people go on vacation during the summer.

A new crop of players being added needs some sort of announcement and all teams given an equal shot at these players.

I've always been in favor of a minor league draft, but oh well.

We did that once, maybe twice a few years ago. Maybe it's time to consider it again ?

So how does one check the database? I've been checking for Snider, Rowell (yay, got him a few weeks ago), McGee, etc via the player search and I even checked for Snider a few days ago and didn't find him. I'd never have imagined they'd have him in there but misspelled.

In addition to searching by player, you can also check by major league team; it will show all players for that team in the database on a single screen. They seem to be rather slow at deleting players (for example, Chad Fox is still available and listed as a Cub).

the problem is, there's no rhyme or reason as to when the guys get added. hell, a bunch of those guys haven't even signed yet, have they? to me, it's just stupid to have those guys in the database. stupid. and there are guys that have signed that aren't in there. doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, I didn't even bother looking for guys like Price since they haven't signed yet. Hell, they have Porcello out already and I think it's very likely he won't sign.

I always look by team. I've been checking for McGee darned near every day and spotted Price in the db. Once I saw him, I naturally searched for the other top players in the draft.

I agree this is a problem. how about a once monthly draft of minor leaguers? We'll run it through the waivers process the first waivers of each month - can every one keep up with that? I'll send a reminder a few days beforehand.

Tim has agreed to release the players he picked up in the spirit of competiveness so we'll reset and then run the draft for the first time mid-month.

Tim - I need a list of players involved.

I picked up two guys too after seeing Tim's post (Moskos and Savery) - shall I drop them too? And someone else picked up Detwiler.

if they were new to the database I will drop them for you. Then I will reset the waiver order - if I can.

wow, marquis sucks - the cubs need another starter.

Juan - I had manny parra, not jose parra

Also, I'd like to let everyone know that I volunteered to drop all the 2007 draft picks that I picked up last week - Juan did not ask me to do so. :D

So this batch of minor leaguers would be dealt with during the first week of August? (I ask because I am headed to India on Tuesday and won't be able to access Roadkill till the 29th).
