Wow Royals.... were was that offense been? Royals are showing the M's the meaning of "violating".

16-3, Bottom of the 6th.

They've already scored 17 runs this season...twice. They are capable of scoring runs. They just do it in random bunches.

I see your 17, and I call.

End 7th, Royals are leading 17-3.

Betemit 2-run homer. Tied at 3. This game looks like it could have a final score of 15-12. This should be fun.

Royals win, 17-3.

Kinda like the Marty Schottenheimer Chiefs playing aganist the Seattle Seahawks in the old days in the AFC West.

WOW, the Astros tied the game on, what looked to be, a routine 6-4-3 DP to end the game with Carlos Lee running.

It was a bad call. Charlie Manuel just got tossed.

horrendous... carlos lee grounds into a game-ending double play, guy looked out at first at full motion, harry kalas says "are you kidding me?" when the safe call comes from the first base ump. Lee was out by half a step and the ump completely blows the call.

Count on absolutely no punishment for the ump, and no reversal by the commish office. MLB sucks.

Extras in HOU

when i become MLB commissioner, i'm appointing a league central office to review all close calls. That play gets reviewed by the central office, lee is declared out, and the game is over. As things are now, I'd just uphold the Phillies' protest of the game and give them the win. After all, it's not a case of "well the game might have played out differently after that point." If the correct call is made at first, the Phillies win right there.

Cox with a head scratcher. let's Kyle Davies hit with the bases juiced, then replaces him three batters into the next inning.

The Phillies can't protest the game. You can't protest a judgement call.

well that sucks. It's not a judgment call, it's a wrong call.

the Cubs have inherited some sort of LSU voodoo this season, nice contributions from Theriot and Fontenot and Youman holds the Brewers in check. I really start to think something is going on if Youman gets shelled on Sunday :o

Respect the voo doo. Respect the voo doo.

Bud Black with even a bigger head scratcher

- D. Uggla doubled to deep left center, A. Amezaga to third

- C. Meredith relieved G. Maddux

- M. Cabrera intentionally walked

- R. Ring relieved C. Meredith

I'm always afraid the Astros will go on a run like they do every year, but it's still a good thing that the Phillies lost.

I hear ya, but they have a long way to go at 10 games under .500 and 7 in the loss column behind the Cubs (12 overall).

The wildcard update for today:

The Dodgers win means that the Cubs stay 5 back of the lead. Both Atlanta and Philadelphia lost though, which moves the Cubs into a tie for 3rd place now with the Braves. Also, San Diego lost, which means that they are tied for the division lead with L.A. If either of them lose today, the Cubs will have a chance to get within 4 of the lead.
