I just heard that Fontenot is at SS, DeRosa's at 2B,

Floyd's in RF and Bowen C.

My lineup guess

Soriano, LF

Fontenot, SS

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Floyd, RF

DeRosa, 2B

Bowen, C

Pie, CF

Hill

I think that's the best lineup we can throw out there with our current roster.

This is the first meaningful series since 2004. I desperately want to get back to .500. Gah. So nervous.

Any way to see if Pie or Fontenot have faced this guy this year? I know Gallardo dominated the I-Cubs not to long ago, just can't remember if either were with the team than or how they did.

Felix wasn't with the I-Cubs the two times they faced Gallardo.

Angel Pagan vs. Yovani Gallardo: 0/6, 2 K

Mike Fontenot vs. Yovani Gallardo: 0/5, BB, K

Koyie Hill vs. Yovani Gallardo: 0/3, K

Carlos Marmol vs. Yovani Gallardo: 0/2, S, K

To make it a bit more depressing:

Yovani Gallardo vs. Carlos Marmol: 1/3, HR, BB

Well, this shouldn't matter because:

-Pie and Bowen will likely start instead of Pagan and Hill

-Fontenot is on fire and the chances of Marmol batting are low and the chances of him facing Gallardo are lower.

Fontenot was on fire going into both those Iowa games too.

And I posted every match up between Gallardo and guys on the I-Cubs who are now on the big league team - I know full well that Marmol isn't likely to bat and that Hill and Pagan aren't regulars.

Thanks! Long time fan, often reader, first time poster. I should be around for a good time.

I hope you're prepared. This site is known for knowledgeable, rational, level headed fans that stray away from knee-jerk reactions....but yeah...all that goes right to hell in game threads. Especially during a big series like this :-)

We are also known for our optimism, as evidenced by UMFan's last post. :)

If we'd sweep this series it would be incredible...however, I'll settle for a win...we just CAN"T lose ground on them after our recent run...I'm also rooting for Cincy to Sweep St. Louis...I want to see them even further back...they stink...but with Carpenter coming back soon I want them a long way behind us...

Yeah, I dont see us sweeping this series. Mainly because we've already won 6 in a row, and that would mean winning 9 in a row...and I dont think that's gonna happen. BUT, that being said, we have every capability of doing so, with how well we've been playing recently.

We MUST take 2/3.

Im nervous.

Anything but a sweep either way is not going to have a season altering impact on our playoff chances, really. Still, this is the kind of series that a playoff team will win.

How about a HR from lee? Just one?

His lack of homers are starting to get frustrating.

Extremely frustrating very quickly.

I am not worried. Lee is still hitting a lot of line drives has 26 double and a .900+ OPS. If the doubles were down too, I would be more concerned, but he is stroking it, I think the homers will come.
