According to Cubs.com:

Day by day: Mark DeRosa was a late scratch on Saturday after he reported he wasn't feeling right because of the medication he's been taking following his dizzy spell in Texas. Ryan Theriot replaced DeRosa in the lineup.

"It's not something we're really worried about, but I don't feel myself the last two or three days," DeRosa said. "I feel like I'm just going through the motions on auto-pilot, kind of in a fog. All the stuff I've been on, whether it's anti-inflammatories or pain relievers for my hand -- I'm just coming off all of it and [have to] cleanse the system. I feel like I'm just going through the motions."

DeRosa has been a better-than-average fill-in at third base for Aramis Ramirez, but wasn't sure if he would be available on Sunday.

"I go through [batting practice], and everything is fine," DeRosa said. "[On Saturday], during the game, I was out there, but I was out there."

He meant "out there," as in being in a daze.

"He was a little out of it," Piniella said. "We just took him out of the ballgame."

"It's tough to explain," DeRosa said. "It's a bad way to describe it, but I feel like I have a three-day hangover."

I knew about the migraine and the eye issues because of it, but the quotes above, to me, make everything sound possibly much more serious. I don't know much about the guy...has he had a history of migraines and related issues?

Personally, I'm totally paranoid about head-related medical issues, and I tend to always fear the worse. I never like to hear someone seemingly suddenly get blinding headaches and be really loopy and dazed out of nowhere.

Hopefully it's nothing serious and he's better soon. He's no superstar, but he's ended up being a decent signing for the team. I've enjoyed seeing him as a Cub...get better, Mark!

i know he had several concussions when he played for Penn. Hope this isnt the onset of PCS.

That said, some of that medicine for migraines is really messed up stuff. So i just hope it is that.

Anyone here get migraines? They blow chunks. I have been layed out for an entire day by one, and the following day feels like the worst hangover of all-time. I changed my diet and that seems (knock on wood) to have helped immensley.

Get well soon, DeRo.

I've read a bit about people doing that - they almost always seem to eliminate dairy products, for some reason.

De Rosa's got my sympathy. I want him back on the team.

Amen. I have had that problem myself. Diet changes seriously reduced the problem. One of the meds I tried, a beta blocker worked, but it had serious side effects. That's what De Ros' problem reminds me of.

Meds will react differently with people than they should some times. That is why there is that small map sized piece of paper of warnings with every bottle of meds.

A friends wife has migranes, and nuts are her trigger. Although my friend and their two sons cant help much either.

Then tell her to quit having sex

DeRosa may have finally figured out what's wrong. His 3-year-old daughter Gabriella has walking pneumonia, and he may have caught it.

That makes sense from what he was describing. I wonder how sick he will get, and if he can keep playing or not. Get better soon Mark.

That makes a lot of sense. I had walking pneumonia about 3 years ago and I was like a zombie for a good two weeks.

Migraines can lay you out, give you headaches so bad you can't see, give you double vision --- even hallucinations in some rare cases.

It's not a headache; it's much much more. I hope it isn't PCS, as someone else stated. I just read a really good article on NFL players and PCS. Once you mess up the brain, it never really heals fully.
