More "Toolsy" players, it has done wonders for us.

:D

It's done wonders for the Braves.

If you have good instruction and coaching to develop players, that's a good idea.

I don't think the Braves emphasis the "Athlete" over "Baseball Skills" quite like the Cubs do.

"Toolsy" does not mean the player doesn't have "baseball skills." You have to have a player who can convert his tools into production on the field and who can learn from coaching.

I don't blame Kenny Williams for being upset after taking Broadway and McCulloch in back-to-back years in the first round.

How can you pass on a name like Lance Broadway?

Black Sox? Come on.

Where are we going?

Although many believe the Black Sox name to be related to the dark and corrupt nature of the conspiracy, the term "Black Sox" may already have existed before the fix. There is a story that the name "Black Sox" derived from parsimonious owner Charles Comiskey's refusal to pay for the players' uniforms to be laundered, instead insisting that the players themselves pay for the cleaning. As the story goes, the players refused and subsequent games saw the White Sox play in progressively filthier uniforms as dust, sweat and grime collected on the white, woolen uniforms until they took on a much darker shade.

Dont care if it is related to the cheating, to the uniforms, or to Ozzie Guillen's mouth, dirty is dirty and they will always be the BlackSox to me.

Only one true baseball team in Chicago, and it plays on the Northside, everyone else is a pretender.

more college punters should do the trick

Hit the nail on the head!

I think the line of thinking was that the team wanted to take higher ceiling guys than the low ceiling collegiates they've been taking (McCulloch, Broadway, Fields to a lesser extent). This year they took Poreda and Griffifth, two guys they wouldn't have taken in other years.

Kenny is about to go off, says Ozzie's job is safe.

Great Quote, "I'm Tired of Watching This."

The White Sox have lost 23 of their last 28 games.

Worse than the 05' and 06' versions of our heros?

That actually is starting to sound quite a bit like the way the Cubs bottomed out starting early-mid May last year. Impressive!

Anybody else see this parallel with the Cubs

2003 Cubs / 2005 White Sox - playoff team (of course the Sox were able to finish it out

2004 Cubs / 2006 White Sox - arguably a better team than its predecessor but in the end fell short of the playoffs

2005 Cubs / 2007 White Sox - an embarrassment

I hope for the sake of anyone who gives a crap about the WSox (other than Hawk) that this pattern doesn't hold up next season, because the experience of being a Cubs fan in 2006 is nothing I would wish on anyone. Other than Hawk.

While I'm enjoying seeing the Sox near the bottom of the AL, I would prefer it if the Cardinals followed that path.

It seems like the 2007 White Sox have jumped into the 2006 Cubs team level. I wouldn't call the 05 Cubs an embarrassment, they were just decidedly mediocre.

Does it get any worse than 2005 for Cubs fans?

Three biggest rivals all make the playoffs, with at least one of them guaranteed to win the world series. Then the winner of the world series is the crosstown rivals. The pathetic mayor of Chicago all over everything with his congrats and praise.

That was horrible.

Whatever bad happens to the sox, they deserve.

05 was bad, but it was embarassing. . .. .2006, on the other hand, was embarassing as heck.

And Dodgers. And the Athletics for that matter. Yes I said the Athletics.

there's no set way to build a baseball team, some organizations have success developing high school players and some have success using their available resources to draft and develop more polished players. oakland has done well keeping a short, steady stream of these players flowing onto their big club, but that's not to say that orgs with intricate and able scouting systems can't be successful bringing along younger players and developing them appropriately-especially if they have a strong, consistent philosophy.
