i know right...i guess you didn't see the interview on "the leadoff man" then?

basically...when bowen was answering questions, i noticed that he had a really bad habit of throwing in a bunch of uhhh's and "and uhhh's"...

type of stuff that just bothers me is all...sorry...i found it rather funny

You must hate Prior then. He always throws in the "uhs." He also throws in a different phrase all the time, though I can't for the life of me remember what it is. I think it's "ya know."

A lot of people do that, and don't even realize they are doing it. A lot of these same people don't do it in normal conversation. It's basically a nervous tic.

Not everyone is completely comfortable in front of a camera and/or microphone.

Just listen/watch Lou in a press conference. And and and a and a and over over again. Its pretty comical

Piniella has a speech impediment. He stutters. He's actually gotten a better handle on it in recent years.

Actually when some one places an "Uhhhh" in the conversation it is a cue that they are thinking about the answer they are giving. It usually means in the middle school environment that they are trying to come up with a better lie.

On a similar subject, can a professional athlete go through an interview without saying "You know?"

I die a little inside every time they do that. It's really annoying.

so, whatcha doin?

:?:

i think i got that from a family guy episode...it is what chicks do...call up with nothing to talk about...only to ask you what you are doing...just another thing that bothers me

i actually had a roommate/friend who would do that...i had quit my job, so i was at the house all day, and this kid would call me about 5 friggin times during the day just to ask what i was doing and what have you...he didn't have anything to say...finally i just said to him..."derek, you remember that family guy episode (insert explanation here)...well, you are reminding me of peter!"

suffice it to say that he was very pissed off, but he never did it again

That was from the episode where Peter had to go to sexual harassment class and became "feminized". He called up Quagmire and said "so, whatcha doin?".

I have a recording of a Hereford Utd player saying 'y'know' 17 times in 31 seconds. Its crazy.
