Cole Hamels gets blasted in Cleveland, but I was still in good shape until Ned Yost thought it was a good idea to bring his most prized arm out in the 7th inning with 93 pitches in his ML debut.

HR, out, walk....inherited run scoring makes a great 22 point start, a mediocre 14.

Mr. Jones, Mr. Jones, Mr. Jones he has this thing going on... I am down by only 4 points, but I have burned up a start. Edited by Quakers

Thank God! I needed the starts to be evened up. That's one way to do it!

Wednesday should be fun.

Halladay vs. LAD

Bonderman vs. Washington

E. Santana vs. HOU

Shields vs. Arizona

Even more beautiful is that these guys will all be 2 start pitchers next week.

Posted
yay! Santana. 1 K 92 pitch CG shutout vs. the Mets. My offense is also back this week, with 5 guys in double digits to my opponents 0.

Man, Lincecum has had 3 horrid starts in a row.

Thank goodness Willis and Zito are throwing up negative starts for Buddiga to combat the -10.2 from Lackey and Lincecum.

You should trade Lincecum to me. We do share the same birthday. I have a nice shiny 1st round pick you can have.

Juan- Are we playing during all-star week?

no

What is the policy regarding a player on your roster going on the DL in the middle of the week?

Can you pick up a free agent and stick them in your line up during that same week?

I was always under the impression you could replace that player with someone on your roster, but not a free agent.

Case in point, a couple weeks ago BJ Upton went on the DL. I picked up Kaz Matsui and stuck him in as a reserve until the end of the week. I replaced Upton with Matsui for the start of this week.

My opponent this week had Tejada go on the DL. He picked up Alex Gonzalez and immediately stuck him in the line up.

What's the ruling?

Your opponent can do this. It maybe thought of differently if your opponent had another SS on his roster that could be put in the line-up but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah, I would think that's legal. It would only make sense.

I actually deleted my post, but someone quoted it before I deleted it.

The reason I deleted it is because my Kaz Matsui comparison was a bad example. I actually added him in the middle of the week from my reserves after I originally added him when BJ Upton was just sitting out several games before officially being put on the DL.

I agree that this should be allowed, but with no rules to reference, I have to ask.

yeah, otherwise if a catcher, ss, or some other spot where you wouldn't have a backup got hurt you'd just have to go w/o one for the whole week.

i don't believe, however, that you can grab a pitcher off waivers if one of your SP misses a start due to injury, though i may be wrong.

best pitcher in rk over the last 28 days?

jeremy guthrie...he's had quite the run.

I'm still pissed at John Stockstill for picking Brownlie with the pick before. I recall Delroy Lindo and I having an extensive discussion on that pick. Speaking of the '02 draft, here are the first rounders currently in the majors:

Upton

Greinke

Fielder

Loewen

Francis

Hermida

Greene

Swisher

Hamels

Loney

Guthrie

Francouer

Blanton

Cain

14 out of 30 is quite good and 4 after Brownlie.

Okay, I agreed with the transaction that allows Alex Gonzalez to replace Miguel Tejada since Tejada was moved to the DL.

Same team has dropped Aubrey Huff from the starting line up and inserted Dmitri Young into the starting line up for Sunday. Not a thing wrong with Huff.

Same team has dropped Nomar Garciaparra from the starting line up and replaced with Brandon Inge in the starting line up for Sunday. While Nomar is out with the flu, he most certainly isn't on the DL.

Both of these players added to the starting line up were picked up as free agents today.

We need to get these rules posted, Juan.

I really didn't stand a chance of winning this week anyway down by 40 and no pitching starts left, but with no rules posted on what is or isn't allowed, you have stuff like this happening.

What if a win or loss this week was based on illegal roster moves like this?

the problem is, waivers run on saturday night...both those guys were picked up off waivers. maybe we could change that.

i think that replacing nomar in the lineup is ok b/c he hasn't been playing. you can make roster substitutions for position players if they are day to day w/ injuries.

I disagree. I've always been under the impression a guy had to go on the DL before you could replace him with someone not on your roster.

Hence my reason for leaving Casey Kotchman in my utility spot all week with a concussion.

well, i'm 99% sure that's not the case.
