Less than 10 to go to 187. Maybe we can get a pitcher then? Please?

Are they going into the 6th round today? I didnt think they were.

Darn.

And darn, there goes Crosby. :(

True.

But the budget half of the comment still applies.

Detroit was fairly lucky in hitting the "high reward" part of the equation with Verlander. Easily could have gone the other way.

Is anyone as concerned as me about not taking any pitchers so far in the draft?

Disappointed moreso, but yes.

Maybe the Cubs can make some phone calls to try to free up some money and steal a falling pitcher. I like Scarpetta and Tepesch a lot. Im calling it now the Cubs will select Tyson Brummett and/or Tony Watson

im disappointed in the lack of high upside players taken in general. it was the strength of the draft and we completely avoided it. terrible

I believe that this is because the Cubs were not allowed to spend money and it will not be a sign of Wilken's drafts in the future (or maybe im just being very hopeful), what does everyone else think?

they weren't overdrafting all of the players. thomas wasnt much of one and neither was donaldson. they probably could have nabbed another guy for the same price

I'm not saying they were overdrafting but it can be hard to sign high celing guys for little money, personally if they were gonna go for a catcher with that pick i would have preferred mitch canham over donaldson

I'm definitely disappointed that Daniel Descalso from UCD got drafted by the Cardinals. I guess I'll just have to hope he gets traded.

The LA Times on Angels draft pick RHP Jonathan Bachanov:

"The 18-year-old reportedly ruffled some feathers by including a "countdown 'til I get paid" section on his MySpace page."
