I'm sure there's probably dozens of threads on here somewhere about purchasing tickets for Cubs games and whatnot, but I'm a lowly regular user and don't have access to the fabled search function, so I was wondering...

Me and my brother are planning a week long trip to Chicago during the week of August 12-18 and we're hoping to catch a Cubs vs. the Reds and Cards game.

Where is the best place to buy tickets for these? Cubs.com sucks, but I looked at Stubhub.com and TicketLiquidators.com, and both have good seats available, each with varying prices. Are they the best route to go getting good seats? Me and my brother were thinking of paying top notch for one game and getitng seats behind the Cubs dugout/on-deck circle, and the best price I found for the Reds game (since it's cheaper) was $189 each for Section 16 row 2. That was on Ticket Liquidators, I was just wondering if that site is safe to buy from. Or is there better sites to buy from?

Thanks!

Nobody, Premium or "lowly regular user" has access to the search function; it's been disabled for quite some time because of concerns that it was contributing to some of the board outages.

I don't know about super great tickets, but I like getting tickets in the 2nd inning for way cheap. You can usually get pretty good tickets (like middle/front of section 221ish) for half face. Vendors typically have a plethora of tickets that they have to eat.

Good idea about the second inning thing if you don't mind going in late.

But if you miss the 1st inning, you're likely to miss 33-100% of the Cubs offensive output for the game.

Maybe it's gotten better since I used to regularly search it for tickets considering it's more mainstream now, but I've always found prices far less outrageous on craigslist or ebay.
