Just because he's not in the dugout, doesnt mean he's not making the decisions. He could easily be hiding in the tunnel listening/watching the game and yelling out stuff.

Or he can always wear a mustache and sunglasses.

Now that I would pay to see.

I guess I fail to see why he should be suspended. It's not like he spit on the umpire or anything. I don't buy the "Kicking the umpire" becuase if he actually kicked the umpire, the umpire would had reacted to the kick.

Test the theory. Kick your mom, dad, brother, sister, whoever, at the foot/shin and see how their reaction is. More than likely their reaction would be "Ow" and grasping at their foot/shin. I didn't see anything like that.

It's too bad the MLBPA can't file a grievance on his behalf.

To be honest, Lou is probably relieved right now. He has probably been looking for a way to get a few days off after the way this team has played. A few days off might be what everyone needs.

That right their says it all. MLB is afraid of the Umpires union. If anyone should be suspended it's the fat man Froeming.

Yes, but it also doesn't mean he's NOT going to take the day off.

The thing that ticked me off with Lou yesterday was that (post game) he said he was going out there no matter what. That's ridiculous. This team is like a 747 headed straight on for a mountain. I don't think he needs to be piping off with comments like that, especially after the B vs. Z meltdown.
He'd hinted in his pregame comments the previous day that he might intentionally get kicked out of a game. He just saw that call as his opportunity.

What I think is bull is the idea that a player can physically assault a teammate without getting suspended, but a manager can't kick dirt on an umpire.

Bingo. That's my beef as well.

it's not about kicking the dirt. that mouthbreather at 3rd told the head umpire that lou kicked HIM. now, i'm assuming almost every single one of us was watching that game and i saw lou kick dirt all over him, but at no time did i see lou boot him in the leg. if lou had initiated contact there would've been an immedeate escalation in the umpires demeanor, of which there was none. the only contact i know of was when fat boy put his hands all over lou. if lou was going to kick his hat or some more dirt and someone got in their way, that's no fault of his. mlb needs to take a good hard look at this. if the allegations are proven to be false someone needs to get joey crawford'ed for this.

I don't really care, I can see both sides, but what I am really getting tired of is umps who seem to inflame a situation or egg on something negative to happen. I've heard that discussed and I do believe there is some truth to it. Yesterday, Lou is going hog wild yelling at the ump, but the ump was just as bad responding up in his face. I would think that's no better. It's not all umps, but some seem to have a pretty big chip on their shoulder lately.

I agree completely. Remember when Lou exploded in Seattle a few years ago (we've all seen the video) and was screaming at Angel Hernandez I think it was? Lou got tossed, and Angel just stood there the rest of the time, almost fighting back a laugh, and never did anything else. He let Lou state his case and that was it. That's how it should be done. Today's umps annoy the living crap out of me.

I'm not sure he's allowed to even be at the ballpark.

And yeah, you have to suspend Lou, if only for a game. I mean, it was hilarious to watch and all, but he repeatedly kicked dirt on the ump and kicked his hat all over the field, definitely excessive.

this is what irritates me most about this. we've seen MLB administer justice differently and give proportionally larger punishment to Cubs serveral times over the pasat few years, this is just the latest example.

I don't ever remember MLB suspending anyone the day following an incident, especially on a Sunday. in that respect, this suspension is essentially unprecedented. if I am not mistaken, MLB offices aren't even open on the weekend.

we also have an 'indefinite' suspension, for a phantom kick. yet last year, when Charlie Manual unintentionally popped an umpire with the bill of his cap, he got one game.

we've seen it with Kerry Wood, Moises Alou, a couple relief pitchers, etc over the years. equal conduct results in greater punishment if you wear the big red C.

edit - as a for instance, Cox putting the ball on the chalk line last week to show where it hit was showing up an umpire in about as big of a way possible. it was excessive conduct by Cox. no suspension. just lots of nice flowery stories about how he's about the break the ejections record.

also, as I pointed out in a different thread, LoDuca can stand at home plate screaming at the first base umpire. no problem. just get it off your chest Paul, and we'll continue when you are done. go NY.

Whoever sold the ticket to Chuck Norris should be fired.

Bruce "Little Hitler" Froemming has had a long vendetta against the Cubs, going all the way back to 1972 when he screwed Milt Pappas out of a perfect game. And on top of that, he is the epitome of the arrogant union worker that believes he can get away with whatever he wants because his mile-wide derriere has protection.

But I suppose if I looked liked Billy Barty with an out-of-control goiter I'd be walking around with a chip on my shoulder.
