can't believe he just used the phrase "baltimore chop"

 

why? That's the first thing I thought of when that happened. I always referred to that type of hit as the "Baltimore Chop"

 

Me too, pretty universal I thought.

i just think it's funny because the baltimore chop was done intentionally

 

I see. Ya it was done intentionally. In Baltimore, John McGraw used to make sure that the groundskeepers kept the area in front of the plate very solid so his guys could do it.

But I didn't allow a passed ball, or throw it into left field!!

used to actually pack clay in the dirt to make it harder. i lived in bmore for 3 years about 4 blocks from camden yards. theres a cool baltimore sports museum down there and there's a section on the baltimore chop
